Looking to get into an Alpina E36 but don’t quite have the budget for the B8? We have another one available but this time it’s the B3 E36 Alpine available for ¥3,850,000 yen / $24,636 USD.
Only 339 units were produced. While about 90% of those imported into Japan were automatic, this is a rare Nicole-made 5MT. It is very rare.
The base model is the E36 325i, and the engine has been tuned by Alpina from the 325i’s 192 hp/25.0 kg to 256 hp/32.6 kg. The exhaust manifold and muffler are also superbly made, and it is said that just adding this exhaust to a 325i increases the horsepower by 20 hp. It has strong low-end torque, but also revs well at high RPMs, and is full of charm that you can only appreciate by driving it, not just by looking at the catalog specifications.
Compared to its successor, the B3-3.2, the 3.2 has a larger displacement and more power and torque, but the larger pistons result in a worse engine feel. Similar to the M3B and M3C of the M3 series, it has more power but a worse engine feel, making the 3000cc engine feel lighter and more enjoyable.
The handling is also superb. The Alpina suspension is not as stiff as the M series, resulting in a supple ride, making it a sophisticated grand tourer. I love the way it corners firmly while rolling. This Alpina with this engine and manual transmission. This is the last Alpina with a 5-number body!!
The vehicle weight is 1380kg. It is 160kg lighter than the current 3 Series. This lightness is fantastic!!
