TFR Hachioji R FD3S

It’s been a good few years since we last saw Hasshi out at Tsukuba Circuit in his FD3S.

These shots take us back to Feb 13, 2022, at a Zummy Racing event, where he wrapped up the day with a new personal best of 56.970 on 295/35R18 A050s.

The RX-7 has been absent from the time attack scene for quite some time now, making these photos a nice reminder of one of its last outings at Tsukuba.

Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before we see Hasshi and the TFR Hachioji R FD3S back where they belong, chasing another fast lap at Japan’s most iconic time attack circuit.

Tanemans SUNOCO GT-R

We managed to catch Shoichiro, aka Asaka Stallion, back at Tsukuba Circuit last season on January 8 during the Zummy Racing event.

After setting a 55.552 in his first session on 295/35R18 A050 GS compounds, he discovered an oil leak in the engine bay which, luckily, never made its way onto the track surface thanks to the diffuser and undertray.

Nonetheless, Shoichiro sat out the second and final session, and unfortunately we haven’t seen the BNR32 back on track since.

Hopefully the GT-R, which set its current PB of 55.828 back in 2018 and currently sits 36th on the Tsukuba Time Attack rankings, will return next season and continue lowering its personal best.

Battle Mark X

It’s not every day you see a Mark X on track, but we got to see one at Sportsland Sugo in March during Attack Tohoku 2026.

Coming into the event with a best time of 1’35.985, Nakaichi took the 300ps GRX133, weighing in at 1,400kg, to a new PB of 1’34.167 on 295/30R18 A050 GS compounds in his first session, then backed it up with a 1’34.225 in the next.

I always enjoy seeing unique builds, and this Toyota sedan definitely stood out from the crowd. Congratulations on the new PB, and I hope to see it make the trip to Tsukuba next season. Looking forward to seeing what it can do there.

Ganbare Integra and Adhoc Works DC5

Under 29 Class drivers Takeru in his Ganbare Integra and Mochi in his Adhoc Works DC5 had a fantastic 2025/2026 season as they both reached new personal bests.

Takeru came into the season with a best time of 1’01.489, set during the 2024/2025 season. Now equipped with a GT wing, he finished Attack Tsukuba 2026 with a 1’01.255. He then lowered his PB even further to 1’01.078 at the inaugural Cat Attack Track Day the following weekend, falling just short of his one minute target.

Mochi came into Attack Tsukuba weekend with a PB of 1’03.316 and his sights set on breaking into the 1’01s. He improved to 1’03.014 at the main event before lowering his PB again to 1’02.656 at Cat Attack Track Day. After opening with a 1’02.659 in the first session, he found another three thousandths in the second on 255/40R17(F), 225/45R17(R) A050s.

The two Integras, both running stock engines and transmissions, may not have reached their season targets, but both finished the year strong with new personal bests. It will be exciting to see what these two young drivers can achieve when they return to Tsukuba next season.

append STC IS F

It was a strong season for STC and his IS F as he finally broke the 60 second barrier at Tsukuba Circuit in January, recording a best time of 59.971 on 295/30R18 A050 GS compounds. As a former IS F owner myself, I couldn’t have been happier to see him achieve a goal he had been chasing for several seasons.

To close out the successful 2025/2026 season, STC headed to the final Attack event of the year, Attack Tohoku 2026 at Sportsland Sugo on March 15.
Despite it being his first time at the circuit, the IS F lapped consistently in the 1’33 range throughout all three sessions, with a best time of 1’33.126 on 295/30R18 RE-71RS street radials in the opening morning session.

I’m really looking forward to seeing where STC and the IS F go next season. Breaking into the 59 second bracket at Tsukuba was a huge milestone, and judging by the pace he showed at Sugo, it feels like there’s still plenty more potential to unlock. It’ll be exciting to see what he can achieve with another season of development.

AIZOME OrangeBall S2000

Some shots of Sugar’s S2000 at an Unparallelled Tsukuba Track Day in February last year.

With a PB of 58.250 on 265/35R18 A050s, the S2000 has already proven itself to be a seriously quick package around Tsukuba. Breaking into the 57-second bracket, especially in an NA S2000, is no easy task, but ever since finally getting the Toda 2.35L engine dialed in and dropping his PB significantly, it’s been a target Sugar has continued to chase.

Hopefully we’ll see him back out at Tsukuba again next season and finally put together the 57-second lap he’s determined to achieve.

B-A-R Joyo Fudosan RSC300

The weekend following his entry in Attack Fuji 2026, running on Advan A005 slick tires for the first time, Kunihiko Bando was back at Attack Tohoku 2026 at Sportsland Sugo, once again on Advan slicks.

The result was an impressive 1’17.861. For context, last season’s fastest GT300 qualifying lap at Sugo was a 1’16.968, while Kunihiko recorded a top speed in excess of 290kph.

Kunihiko’s run at Sugo brought an incredible 2025/2026 campaign, featuring a new PB at Tsukuba and his first visit to Fuji Speedway, to a close, but preparations for his return to WTAC this September are already well underway.

To help support his return to WTAC this September, some merchandise is now available through Car shop GLOW Co., Ltd..
Every purchase helps get Kunihiko back down under, so be sure to check it out and show your support.

TCP MAGIC CCFD3S

Central Time Attack Challenge (CTAC) had been an event that I had wanted to make it down to for years, but with the event usually scheduled in January, my schedule was always full covering the Tsukuba events and I was never able to attend.

So when CTAC 2026, originally scheduled for January 25, was cancelled due to snowfall and rescheduled to March 8, there were no more excuses not to make the 7-hour drive down to Central Circuit in Hyogo Prefecture.

It wasn’t my first time at Central Circuit and it was great to experience the Kansai atmosphere in the paddock, as well as along the pit wall where spectators can watch the action.

It was also awesome catching up with some familiar faces, including CC Kitajo and his iconic FD3S. A regular fixture of the Kansai time attack scene for many years, it was great to finally see the car in action at its home circuit. His best time of the day was a 1’19.453 on 295/35R18 A050s.

Hopefully we get to see him and his RX-7 make it back out to Tsukuba again next season.
