The new edition of Goodwood Festival of Speed that has been held for more than thirty years at Goodwood House in England, opened this year with an exceptional unveiling: the Bizzarrini Automobili 5300 Aperta Lusso. This “New Classic”, designed on paper by Giorgetto Giugiaro over sixty years ago, is now coming to life in a limited series of ten custom-built models.

The first car, the focus of the presentation, is called “La Dolce Vita,” and it is the realization of a dream: a combination of luxury and modern technology with the style and elegance of the 1960s. To the naked eye it is a vintage car, from behind the wheel it offers all the reassurance, comfort and reliability of the 21st Century.

The open-topped interpretation of the 5300 GT Corsa, the most renowned model produced by Bizzarrini Automobili, was always part of the vision of the overall project. In 1962, the now famous arch structure was first seen in a prototype by Giorgetto Giugiaro whilst at Bertone. The Bizzarrini company was focused on racing, so the design and drawings for the open car went into the archive, to remain this way following the shuttering of the company in 1969. Now - decades later - in the company’s resurgent new era those drawings become the foundation for the next evolution and the first modern-day Bizzarrini.

Last weekend, around sixty collectors gathered in the Swiss Alps for a weekend dedicated to classic cars and instant classics. The event was organized by the Supercar Owners Circle, a community of enthusiasts of custom-built cars, hypercars, and historic vehicles, and took place primarily in the town of Andermatt, where the club was founded.

Fabrizio Giugiaro, CEO of GFG Style, participated with two cars from the Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro collection, which is part of the Automotoclub Storico Italiano museum network: the 2001 Aston Martin Twenty Twenty and the 1993 Bugatti EB112. Additionally, Fabrizio Giugiaro created the new design for the trophy that the Supercar Owners Circle , community awards each year to the best participating cars and took part in a talk discussing design, his entrepreneurial journey and the technical and stylistic features of the Bugatti EB 112.

Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro were interviewed by radio and tv host and YouTuber Gianluca Gazzoli last Saturday, June 20, at Ignition, an event that is part of the celebrations - which continue throughout the year with major initiatives - organized by the renowned magazine Quattroruote to mark the 70th anniversary of its first publication in 1956.

The event took place at the Vairano di Vidigulfo (PV) racetrack: a day of “collective ignition,” during which guests were able to experience the Quattroruote universe firsthand.

The programme featured hot laps, track and off-road test drives, an open-air exhibition, car meets, simulators, and entertainment, as well as talks on the present and future of the automotive world featuring prominent industry figures.

The new shapes of the Kosmo H1319 feature appealing exteriors: the vehicle bursts with personality, as reflected by the shiny black and white surfaces, into which the bumpers and spoiler are finely fitted.

The two-tone black/white color scheme represents a signature that determines the full membership to the new-generation Laika motorhomes, which emerge with their personal and instantly recognizable style: the result of the collaboration with GFG Style, in the name of Italian style and design.

The decision to opt for black exterior accessories, contrasting with the white surfaces, creates a fascinating look, adorned by the honeycomb radiator grille with the Laika logo, the chrome “Kosmo” logo and the introduction of the Italian flag on the rearview mirrors.

Giorgetto Giugiaro returned to the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile to take part in a talk on the occasion of the exhibition “Twelve Cars”, a reimagining of the temporary exhibition at Spazio Design which presents car design as an archipelago of shapes.

With him on stage Paolo Martin, Pininfarina Designer, Gian Beppe Panicco, Bertone Head of Communication and Paolo Tumminelli, Spazio Design curator.

The discussion focused primarily on the automotive revolution in Turin during the 1970s, in which Giugiaro was one of the undisputed leading figures. It is no coincidence that the exhibition at the museum features two of Giugiaro’s creations: the Lancia Megagamma - a 1978 concept car designed with comfort and roominess in mind - and the iconic Fiat Panda.

The traditional Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este , organized under the patronage of BMW Group, took place last weekend, reaffirming its status as the premier event on the international classic car scene. Collectors, restorers, designers, automotive historians, and enthusiasts of all kinds gathered in the gardens of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, on Lake Como, to celebrate some of the rarest, most significant, and most elegant cars ever built.

Among the cars participating in the competition was the famous Volkswagen W12 Nardò, designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro in 1997 at the invitation of VW Group Chairman Ferdinand Piëch. The car, which won the award in the “Class H – The Pace Race: The Supercar Comes of Age” category, was presented at the competition by Gregor Piëch, Ferdinand’s son, in collaboration with Fabrizio Giugiaro, continuing to garner unanimous acclaim from enthusiasts.

The GFG Sibylla GG80 is the luxury sedan that Giorgetto Giugiaro decided to design and “treat himself” to on the occasion of his 80th birthday. It is a fully electric vehicle of considerable size, notable above all for its sophisticated system of opening and accessing the cabin: the wraparound windshield connects directly to the central pillars and slides forward on two parallel tracks, allowing entry to the front seats; the rear doors, on the other hand, open while the windows rise in a gull-wing motion, providing ample and comfortable access. The Sibylla GG80 also features a spacious trunk, designed to accommodate multiple suitcases for group travel.
