30 years already, but the legacy lives on 🇦🇹 × 🇧🇷

Two legends with a very different career path, yet united by the same tragic fate, because the racing gods give us as much as they take us away, even though that weekend they deprived us of two great drivers, but most of all, two great human beings.

New car alert! 🚨

Today, GAINER published a first render of the new Nissan Z GT300 that will debut this season, even though they will miss both collective tests at Okayama and Fuji Speedway.

Regarding this, in a recent interview, Team Principal Kazumi Fujii highlighted the production challenges of this new model: in fact, initial design had to be scrapped due to regulation changes, as well as the idea of sharing parts from the GT-R GT3.

The heart of the Z GT300 will be the same as in the GT-R GT3 to cut costs, but in order to fit it in the car, they had to make some design changes, hence why the VR38DETT didn't produce the same power output as in the GT-R at the dyno test.

For this season, Super GT will feature a new qualifying format, abandoning the "F1-style" knockout system.
So here's how it evolved:

⚪️ GT500:
● Q1 (10 minutes) is followed by Q2 (8 minutes)
● Sum of Q1 and Q2 times decides grid order
● Different drivers must be nominated for Q1 and Q2

🟡 GT300:
● Q1 is splitted in Gr.A and Gr.B (both 10 minutes)
● Q2 is split in Gr.1 (8th or faster in Q1) and Gr.2 (9th or lower in Q1) and both last 8 minutes.
● Grid positions 1st - 12th: 12 fastest combined times in Q2 Gr.1
Grid positions 13th - 20th: Top 4 Gr.2 + Bottom 4 Gr.1
Grid positions 21st - : 5th & lower in Q2 Gr.2

🏆 Tomoki Nojiri starts perfectly his 2024 campaign with a dominant performance from start to finish!
The Mugen driver had a feline reflex at the start, as he jumped both Ohta and Sakaguchi already by T1, and since then, he never looked back.

📈 The podium is completed by Yamash*ta and Yamamoto, whose podium is the first since his last win at Motegi 2022 and a very strong statement about his physical recovery after the career-threatening crash at Sugo last year.
Good points also for Fukuzumi in P6 at his first race with KCMG and Toyota; great performance also by Matsush*ta in P8, despite having zero track time prior to this weekend.

📉 Disappointing race for the front row starters Sakaguchi and Ohta, that got swallowed by the group at the start, losing lots of terrain. Race to forget also for the TOM'S drivers after they battled all weekend with a chronic lack of top speed.

🔰Iwasa comes out on top of the rookie battle with a good performance and an alternative strategy after yesterday's struggles in qualifying. Only P18 for Porchaire in the Impul outfit, confirming the setup difficulties showed all weekend.
On the other hand, Juju Noda showed positive pace during the race, staying in touch with the main group, demonstrating that she can be up there with the others.

The next race will be at Autopolis on May 18-19.

First qualifying session of the season, and there is already a lot to talk about!

Sena Sakaguchi scores his maiden pole position ahead of the other young gun Kakunoshin Ohta, with two-time champion Nojiri only 3rd, despite a messy Q2 lap.

📈 Finally, it's good to see a champion like Naoki Yamamoto competitive once again after some difficult couple of seasons with Nakajima Racing; in fact, today's P5 is his best qualifying result since Fuji last year.
Impressive run also by Nobuharu Matsush*ta in the TGM machinery in P9, despite jumping onboard at the last minute in what appears a one-race-deal with the team.

🔰 Mixed feelings among the rookies, with Iori Kimura by far the happiest after securing a Q2 appearance in his first qualifying session with the sole B-Max car; while Iwasa and Porchaire surely hoped for better results, especially the French F2 champion.
Without much surprise, Juju Noda appears to be the one struggling the most by being 4 seconds off the pole (even though within 107%); and there are already questions regarding if the jump from Euroformula Open was too much too soon, but let's wait and see, the season is only at the beginning.

Akira Toriyama gave the world perhaps one of the coolest crossovers when he collaborated with Mclaren and shaped entire generations with work, but definitely left us too soon.

At least now he will be able to talk once again with his hero Ayrton Senna.

New season, new car, new drivers (almost) and new livery for Nakajima Racing!

The first of the Honda teams to break cover of their new 2024 outfit with a new sticking livery, which cuts from the black trend of the past season.

As usual from the last decade or so, Nakajima Racing will be the only Dunlop-shod team, but with an interesting driver duo: indeed, veteran Takuya Izawa will drive alongside young star Riki Okusa, who migrated from Nissan to Honda this winter.

Let's hope that all this combination of factors will break Nakajima's victory drought, which endures since 2017.

Today, it came a bit out of the blue (involuntary joke, I swear) when Yogibo Racing announced the suspension of the racing activities in Super GT for 2024. The motivation behind such decision is a 'change in corporate strategy' regarding the GT300 and Racing effort in general.

This means that Team UpGarage will be the sole GT300 team to enter a Honda NSX GT3, plus after the 2024 season, HRC will end its official support on the NSX programme.
