Off late the 1.0 Turbo petrols are making a strong presence in the market. More or less everyday we are doing atleast one pdi of a 1.0L turbo petrol, be it a hatchback, a sedan, a sub 4 meter Csuv or a crossover. The 1.0 turbo petrol engines are gaining popularity among majority of the brands.

A new contender enters the ₹30–40 lakh arena. And this one looks interesting.

Kia is preparing to plug an important gap in the market with a feature-loaded offering that brings plenty to the table.

Petrol Hybrid, Diesel & AWD.

That powertrain spread immediately broadens its appeal.

For the tourers, AWD adds capability and confidence. For those clocking serious kilometres, diesel and hybrid make a strong case. And for the urban buyer, there is the petrol.

Inside, it feels premium and properly equipped—as you would expect from Kia. The overall package appears polished, with the promise of good ride quality and a strong ownership experience.

But this was a pre-launch preview, so we did not get behind the wheel. We will reserve our verdict on ride, handling and real-world performance until the test drive.

The interesting bit is its positioning.

At ₹30–40 lakh, it could potentially pull buyers looking at everything from the XUV700 to the Hycorss, Meridian, Kodiaq, Tiguan and Tayron.

And perhaps that is its strongest card.

It looks good.
It packs the equipment.
It offers multiple powertrains.
And there is very little about the package that should polarise buyers.

On paper, Kia seems to have built a very well-rounded machine.

Now we wait to drive it.

Because at CarNiti, the brochure starts the conversation.

This is the reason why PDI is important! Earlier today I was driving behind this Hycross on E.M bypass, Kolkata. While waiting at a signal I clicked this pic.
A pdi could have saved the frustration or the agony the owner is currently going through.

The new Hilux! There are a lot of polarised opinion on the look of the new Hilux, but in person I must admit the road presence is indeed as intimidating as it was! There is nothing new to add on the indestructible nature and the reliability quotient of the Toyota pickup trucks. This is basically the same old formula in new looks.
