*Jammu Police Cracks Down on Banned Chinese Manja; Two Persons Including One Juvenile, Booked in Two Separate Incidents; 13 Rolls Seized by PS Pacca Danga*

Continuing its sustained drive against the sale, storage and use of banned and hazardous Chinese Plastic Manja (Gattu), Jammu Police has achieved another success, with two persons, including one juvenile, being booked in two separate incidents by Police Post Chowk Chabutra, Police Station Pacca Danga.
Acting on reliable information, police team of PP Chowk Chabutra apprehended one person, namely Chiranjeev Singh S/o Harjinder Singh, R/o Moti Bazar, Jammu, and one juvenile Name withheld, in two separate incidents.
During the course of the action, 13 rolls of banned Chinese Plastic Manja (Gattu) were recovered and seized from their possession.
The sale, storage and use of Chinese Manja have been prohibited by the competent authorities in view of the serious threat posed by this hazardous synthetic thread to public safety. Its sharp and non-biodegradable nature can cause grievous injuries and fatalities to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and children, besides posing a significant threat to birds and other animals.
Accordingly, FIR Nos. 124/2026 and 125/2026 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga, and investigation in both cases has been taken up.
Jammu Police reiterates its commitment to safeguarding public safety and maintaining strict enforcement against the sale, storage, transportation and use of banned Chinese Manja. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the prohibitory orders.
The general public is requested to cooperate with the police and promptly report any information regarding the sale, storage or use of banned Chinese Manja to the nearest police station . Moreover parents are requested to keep a check on their wards and refrain them from purchasing/using banned Chinese thread/Gattu Manja.
