The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire was unveiled a few days back and it has already set up a benchmark by getting 5 stars from Global NCAP making it the safest cars in it segment after the Tata Tigor. Additionally, the previous gen Dzire was also been crash tested but it just got 2 stars.
The only thing to remember is that the tested mule was a base variant of the Dzire and it gets 6 airbags as standard across all the variants unlike the old Dzire which only gets 2 airbags. Moreover, with the new improvement we also hope that the new Maruti Swift also scores 5 stars.

Do let us know about what do you feel about the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire's safety ratings.

The X-Trail is a flagship product in India bought by the Japanese brand Nissan via. the CBU route to take over the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Škoda Kodiaq and Citroën C5 Aircross. Here's the first impressions on the Nissan X-Trail.

1. As it's a CBU product the fit finish, paint and build quality levels are top notch.
2. It sits on a 20-inch wheels giving it a bolder stance.
3. No leather upholstery on offer.
4. The interior fabric seems to be borrowed from the lower Nissan models like the Magnite.
5. Third row is best when second row is tumbled or folded
6. Poor boot space if the third row is up. Best for small backpack.
7. Bigger screen and more features would have been welcomed at this price point.
8. Soft plastics panels would have been welcomed.
9. Powered tail gate is a huge miss.

At Rs. 63.50 Lakhs on road Navi Mumbai the price isn't justified as the competition offers more premiumness and better quality levels.

One of the most anticipated launches of 2024 has to be the Tata Curvv and Curvv.EV. Today, I would share my impressions on the Curvv.EV.

1. The coupe design stands out from it's rivals.
2. The boot space is quite big and useable at 500 litres.
3. Headroom and kneeroom is sufficiently comfortable for people under 5.8 height
4. The fit finish and material quality is good.
5. The dashboard and interior is borrowed from the Nexon with some cosmetic changes.
6. The 18-inch wheels highlighted by the gloss black cladding add to the overall stance.
7. The IRVM gives decent view of what's behind
8. The tailgate opens like a notch making it big opening.
9. It also comes equipped with ADAS which is still missed by the bigger Tata's.

Overall, the Tata Currv.EV seems to be a fantastic product. But the limited headroom could be an issue for taller passangers due to sunroof. However, if you are the one looking for a car which has has different appearance and stance when compared to the other then the Curvv.EV is worth considering.

Recently, I had the opportunity to get my hands on India's first CNG bike the Bajaj Freedom. So here are the first impressions on it.

Lets start with the pros of the bike
It gets a throaty exhaust note in both petrol and CNG modes
It pulls great on higher gears despite being on speeds as low as 15 kmph
The seat height at 825 mm is comfortable for tall riders, however short riders may find it a bit difficult.
The riding posture is quite aggressive for the commuter segment but it's not a great issue.

Coming to the negative points of the Freedom 125
One could find a lot of false neutral while shifting from 4 to 5. But overall shift quality is slick
The fuel filling flap is quite flimsy as the hinge is made of plastic. It might break if not operated properly
A seperate indicator for petrol would have been welcomed.

Verdict

Although, I loved the Freedom 125, but with great bits, there are some negatives as well. However, with a claimed range of over 300 kms it a great bike to be considered. Additionally, it may take some time to rectify the niggles as the one which I tested was a pre-production mule. But we expect Bajaj to work on it before its introduced to the customers

Tata Sumo launched back in 1998 was quite popular vehicle back then. Initially launched with 2.0 L diesel engine sourced from Peugeot. It had 4x4 and 4x2 options, although 4x4 was only limited to Indian Army. Later it was upgraded to 3.0 L turbo-diesel although power was much up but the stress on the engine was reduced quite a lot. The Sumo was discontinued in 2019 due to upcoming pollution norms but it is quite popular amongst the Sumo enthusiast.

Recently tried the OLA S1 Pro and here are the
Driving impressions of OLA S1 Pro
• Throttle is very soft
• Front Suspension is quite stiff
• If one is switching from ICE vehicle you may find the horn and indicator button quite hard and bit uneasy to operate
• Owner claims the range of 120 km which is quite respectful and sufficient for daily duties
• Regen too works in a smooth way
• Tried the various riding modes and each has its own character. Normal is god for city duties, Level 2 (sport) is quite furious, Level 3 (Hyper) didn't tried it but it should be more enthusiastic.
• Most of the things can be controlled via the touch screen but can be bit complex for new users.
Verdict- If one is looking for an electric scooter it's a good option, although it has its own pros & cons. But OLA has come a way ahead and the EV infrastructure is too improving.
Finally a special thanks to Sanika Tandel for lending her OLA S1 Pro

Tata’s Nexon EV gets a new name and a new look…!!! Now it’s called Nexon.EV, a car completely different from outside and inside as compared to its pre facelift model.
From the exterior it looks quite similar to ICE counterpart but it gets a different grill and connected DRL setup. Whereas on the exterior it gets similar interiors but the biggest high light has to be its new 12 in infotainment screen which a big update from the previous one.
Mechanically, it gets a new GEN2 motor which is 20 kg lighter than before but the power output still remains the same except for the torque output which is slightly reduced. But there is marginal change in range figures.
