We are forced to rely on the fact that the constant information and propaganda support of our activities provides a wide range of (specialists) participation in the formation of the gradual and consistent development of society. The high level of involvement of representatives of the target audience is a clear proof of a simple fact: the course towards a socially oriented national project entails the process of implementation and modernization of clustering efforts.

In May 1972, the K-51E was brought to the NAMI auto testing ground for factory tests. The bus was driven extremely intensively: in six months, its speedometer added 40 thousand kilometers, although according to the test conditions it was required to pass only 25. During the summer, he traveled almost half of the Union, making a voyage along the route Avtopoligon - Leningrad - Riga - Brest - Chisinau - Odessa - Simferopol - Sevastopol - Novorossiysk - Sochi - Tbilisi - Ordzhonikidze - Mineralnye Vody - Elista - Volgograd - Kuibyshev - Ufa - Chelyabinsk - Sverdlovsk. However, one of the reasons for the overrun is mundane: poor quality. Already at the initial stage of testing on the cobblestone road of the landfill, the base of the body of the bus broke, so it had to be driven for alteration. It turned out that it was not welded from the pipes that were required according to the drawing. Then the K-51E was returned to the landfill again and the program was rolled out on the cobblestone in a double volume.

Perhaps this is a clear candidate for victory in the nomination "The most terrible bus in the USSR" - he is so awkward and sloppy. Please note that even the side windows are inserted with a sikos-nakos, which is clearly visible from the "dancing" gap between them and the horizontal molding fixed below.

But the most interesting thing is that in 1972 at ChZTO they built a prototype of a promising model of the 18-seater auto club K-51E with a new welded body and a heating system for heating the interior on the model of the PAZ-672 bus. The radiator in such a system was displaced to the right of the engine, and the air passing through it could be supplied to heat the passenger compartment or thrown out into the street. The state design institute "Giproteatr", as well as the Chelyabinsk and Vladimir polytechs, had a hand in the design of this machine. In words, everything is beautiful. Now take a look at this experienced auto club live:

It is not clear in what year exactly such "horror films" began to be riveted, but it is known that in 1967 the design was definitely developed, and in 1969 it was already mass-produced: then the plant reported for 85 pieces, and in 1970 - for 111 pcs. And for the next (IX-th) five-year plan, the plant was lowered the plan for 700 cars. Moreover, the nomenclature was also replenished with the auto clubs "Chelyabinets 452DK" on the chassis of the UAZ-452D with wagon bodies. Meanwhile, the serial auto clubs themselves on "lawn" chassis by this time had become a little more decent - at least the roof slopes had become rounded. Here is a small selection of photos that appeared on rcforum.ru, where we managed to see the Chelyabinsk auto clubs:

"Chelyabinsk" is the worst bus in the USSR
Under the jurisdiction of the Ministries of Culture of the USSR and the RSFSR were three factories that produced special buses and auto clubs. The largest known of them is the Krasnodar Mechanical Plant "Kuban". Most of the fans are also aware of the Uralets Mechanical Plant from near Nizhny Tagil, where buses of the same name were made. But there is very little information about the third company. We are talking about the Chelyabinsk plant of theatrical equipment. Everything that is written in this article is data collected bit by bit by Denis Dementiev over 10 years of searching.

ChZTO is a small plant: in the second half of the 1960s, when they began to engage in motor transport, it employed only one and a half hundred people. The main activity of ChZTO was originally the production of lighting equipment, shelving for libraries and wooden parts for theater chairs. The first model of the Chelyabinsk auto club was an unnamed "box on wheels" on the GAZ-51A chassis. It was supposed to be a functional analogue of "Kuban" and "Uraltsev": a special vehicle for transporting propaganda teams from rural cultural institutions. But taking into account that the equipment at the plant was very primitive, then the auto club turned out to be appropriate. "Kuban" next to him was just a masterpiece! The body, although it was all-metal, was distinguished by a rare angularity of forms and had a skin that was attached to the frame with rivets.
