Another BMW powered Toyota in trouble with soot accumulation.

This car was diagnosed elsewhere with an EGR issue, which the customer supplied but this was just the beginning of the problems.

EGR jammed
Dpf blocked / collapsed
Intake choked
Intake manifold flaps missing
Crank pulley failed
Glowplugs failed
Broken breather pipe
Turbine pressure pipe blocked

The dpf could not be saved in this car after multiple cleaning procedures our soot mass was increasing instead of decreasing all the time under load.

A hectic start to 2026

Multiple engine builds starting with this 212 plate Citroen berlingo.

Recovered in with a failed water pump and jumping belt it was a job that escalated fast.

These dv5 engines are now under a recall from manufacturer as they are prone to timing chain failures in the cambox. My advice would be, if you own one get it looked at immediately. Timing belt components are also not reaching their service interval so don’t put off replacing your timing belt.
