The weather is still beautiful out on the water, there’s plenty to see along the coast, and we have a few places left on our 3pm Dún Laoghaire Sightseeing Sea Safari this Sunday Oct 18th

Join us for two hours on the water as we head south from Dún Laoghaire towards Bray Head, taking in Dalkey Island, Sorrento Point, Killiney Bay and the Dublin & Wicklow coastline from a completely different perspective.

Keep an eye out for seals, seabirds and other marine wildlife along the way, while our local crew share some of the stories and landmarks that make this coastline so special.

And don’t worry about the autumn chill — our gear will keep you warm and dry. Just add a few layers underneath and get out on the water.

Autumn is a spectacular time to explore the Dublin Bay UNESCO Biosphere with Dublin Bay Sea Safaris. As the summer crowds thin, the crisp air and golden autumn light provide a dramatic new perspective on the East Coast. Operating high-speed Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), these guided tours blend high-adrenaline fun with local maritime history and wildlife spotting.
Because it’s a coastal marine activity, autumn trips require a tiny bit of extra preparation, but the operator has you fully covered.
What to Expect in Autumn

• The Wildlife Shift: While summer puffins have migrated out to sea, autumn brings excellent opportunities to spot the bay’s permanent residents. Grey seals are highly active along the shores of Dalkey Island, and resident seabirds like cormorants and gannets dive frequently in the autumn waters. You might even catch a glimpse of harbor porpoises or a passing minke whale.
• Gearing Up for the Weather: Don’t let the cooler temperatures or a bit of Irish rain hold you back. The crew provides heavy-duty IMAX weatherproof jackets, waterproof trousers, and life jackets to keep you completely dry and warm.
• What to Bring: Even under autumn sunshine, the open RIB boats move quickly and the air feels chilly on the water. You should wear warm layers, a woolly hat, thick gloves, and flat, non-slip shoes. Make sure your phone or camera is secure and waterproof!

Standing off the coast of Dublin looking at the Kish Lighthouse, it looks like an imposing concrete tower rising straight out of the Irish Sea. But to Richard Cummins, it was simply home.

Before the lighthouse beacons were fully automated, Richard served as an Irish Lights keeper at some of the most isolated outposts around our coast—including Kish and Fastnet. When we were out on the water with him, he pointed right up at the tower to show us which window belonged to his old bedroom.

Today, Richard is a veteran journalist, maritime author, and one of the vital living voices keeping Ireland’s coastal history alive. But as we discovered on our trip out to Kish, his best stories aren't just about the past—they’re about where these historic stations are heading next. This is just a glimpse of our time with Richard, and the beginning of a bigger story we’re preparing to share with you next year.
