Feeling tired behind the wheel this bank holiday? Take a break!

The RSA and Applegreen have teamed up to offer free coffee to motorists from 2pm to 8pm on Friday 23 and Monday 26 October, helping drivers stay alert and tackle driver fatigue.

Driving when tired can impair your concentration, reaction time and ability to drive safely. If you’re feeling tired, don’t push through it. Pull over somewhere safe and take a break.

☕ Here’s a tip: Have a caffeinated drink and take a 15 minute nap to help you feel more alert before continuing your journey. by then the caffeine will have kicked in.

😴 Remember, caffeine is only a temporary aid. If you’re chronically fatigued or very tired, sleep is the only real solution.

Plan ahead, take regular breaks and make sure you’re fit to drive. Arriving safely is always worth the extra time.

Please check your emails if you had a test booked for tomorrow Wednesday 14th October

The 12 EDT lessons are only one part of learning to drive. To get the most from each lesson, learners are expected to complete around 3 hours of private practice between EDT lessons.

That means:

🚗 1 hour with your ADI = instruction
🏠 3 hours private practice = consolidation

Across 12 EDT lessons, that’s approximately 36 hours of additional practice, alongside the 12 hours of professional instruction.

Just like Maths, you learn the skill, practise it, make mistakes, receive feedback and repeat it — that’s how confidence and competence develop.

The EDT lesson is the classroom… private practice is the homework! #

So incredibly proud and delighted for all my clients who successfully passed their driving tests in August! 🎉🚗👏

I don’t name names or share pictures because this is your accomplishment, not mine. You put in the work, showed determination and earned that pass! 🏆

You should be so proud — I certainly am! ❤️

🚗 Slow your brain down on test day!

Don’t rush — take your time, breathe and think before you act. Slowing everything down helps you remember your routines: MSPSL (ADA), MSSM & your reference points.

It’s not a race — trust your training and drive the way you’ve been taught! 💪🍀

🚗 SEE A LEARNER? GIVE THEM TIME.

Remember, there’s a real person learning behind that L plate. They may hesitate, be slower than expected or make a mistake — and that’s part of learning.

Hooting, driving aggressively or getting too close will only panic a learner. I’m also teaching them the important skill of watching other road users’ body language and behaviour, so they can anticipate what might happen around them.

So show your experience — YOU show courtesy, YOU show patience, and YOU give them space.

Your few extra seconds could make a huge difference to someone building their confidence. 💙🚗

Be patient. Be aware. Help learners become safer drivers.

Why it’s important:
Correct hand positioning gives you the best possible control of the vehicle, allowing you to steer quickly and safely when needed. Keep both hands in the correct position and maintain at least 10 inches (25 cm) between your body and the centre of the steering wheel to reduce the risk of injury if the airbag deploys.

🎉 Congratulations to everyone getting their Leaving Cert results today! 🎊

Your results do not define who you are or your future. Take a moment to let it sink in, then choose what feels right for you — college, an apprenticeship, a job, travel, or simply some time out.

There’s no right or wrong path — just your path. ❤️🎉

Every driver started out as a learner. 🚗
If you're feeling nervous about getting behind the wheel, you're not alone. Driving is a practical life skill that everyone has to learn from the very beginning—no one was born with a steering wheel in their hands 😊
Take it one step at a time. With patience, practice, and the right guidance, your confidence will grow with every lesson.
