FULL SEND - Sometimes the winch can wait.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching an off-road car hit a section like this with enough momentum to actually keep moving.
Wheels fighting for grip, suspension working overtime and mud being thrown in every direction.
This was during the Prologue at Croatia Challenge 2026, and the light coming through the forest made an already chaotic scene even better to photograph. You've got bright sunlight catching the vehicle and individual pieces of flying mud, surrounded by the darker greens and shadows of the Croatian forest.
But what really makes the photograph for me is that front wheel.
Completely unloaded, hanging in the air while the rest of the vehicle fights its way through the mud.
Motorsport photography is all about freezing those fractions of a second that your eyes barely have time to process when you're standing there. The suspension compresses, the wheel lifts, the mud explodes and then the moment is gone.
Fortunately, the camera remembers it.
And yes... photographing Croatia Challenge meant spending an unreasonable amount of time standing suspiciously close to situations exactly like this.
Wouldn't have had it any other way.
