Turbo failure 🔧

This one came in with a failed turbo, and once we got into it, the reason started to become pretty obvious.

Some serious shaft play in the turbo, and then we found the state of the oil filter… 😳
Not exactly ideal for something that relies on a good supply of clean oil. I also found the turbo return pipe heavily clogged with sludge which would also contribute to the failure.

New turbo fitted, oil feed and return, fresh oil and filter, and back up and running. 👌

Peugeot RCZ 1.6 THP – Timing Chain 🔧

One that’s been in for a timing chain replacement.

These 1.6 THP engines aren’t exactly famous for being kind to their timing chains, so this one got a fresh chain setup, along with new oil and filter while we were in there.

All timed up, checked over and back together ready to go. 👌

This Transit had a poorly flywheel—loud knocking and ready to drop. 🛠️

​We got it sorted with a full LUK clutch and dual-mass flywheel kit. These gearboxes are a little on the heavy side, and mauling them around on your back on a driveway is a proper recipe for sore arms! 💪

A closer look at a PSA PureTech wet belt system.

The material you can see in the pickup is degraded belt matter, which has begun to restrict oil flow.

This is a known issue when service intervals are extended or incorrect oil specifications are used. Over time, the belt breaks down, contaminates the system, and compromises lubrication.

Left unresolved, this typically results in significant internal engine damage.

In this case, it was identified early and rectified before failure occurred.

Preventative maintenance on these engines isn’t optional — it’s essential.

"A simple clutch master cylinder replacement," they said. "It'll be easy," they said.

​To get to the cylinder on this one, the entire pedal box assembly and lower dash had to come completely out. Definitely not a quick job, but it was stripped down, replaced with a quality LuK unit, and built back up properly.

Core plug failed.

Suspected a failed water pump on this one, but once it was stripped down, the real issue was a leaking core plug hiding behind the setup.

Guessing and throwing parts at a problem solves nothing. This is why proper diagnostics matter.
