Called out when this van stopped running entirely and wouldn’t restart.

Timing chain snapped completely - known issue on 1.5/1.6 EcoBlue diesels. Being an interference engine, valves have hit pistons, visible damage to rockers & valve gear. A new chain alone isn’t enough: full top-end overhaul needed.

Work includes:
• Head inspection & pressure test
• Replace all damaged valve gear
• Updated 8 mm timing chain kit + gaskets
• Full oil flush & filters
• Timing set to Ford specs

Tip: Stick to service schedules & correct spec oil, these can fail suddenly.

This Water pump was a little broken and leaking. all fixed now, using a INA kit.

I'm wet, my feet are soaked. Vans throwing a wobbler. Weather's not great. But still, little by little we chip away.

Turbo failure 🔧

This one came in with a failed turbo, and once we got into it, the reason started to become pretty obvious.

Some serious shaft play in the turbo, and then we found the state of the oil filter… 😳
Not exactly ideal for something that relies on a good supply of clean oil. I also found the turbo return pipe heavily clogged with sludge which would also contribute to the failure.

New turbo fitted, oil feed and return, fresh oil and filter, and back up and running. 👌

Peugeot RCZ 1.6 THP – Timing Chain 🔧

One that’s been in for a timing chain replacement.

These 1.6 THP engines aren’t exactly famous for being kind to their timing chains, so this one got a fresh chain setup, along with new oil and filter while we were in there.

All timed up, checked over and back together ready to go. 👌
