How Work Gets Done Here 🛠️

Hi everyone

I want to take a moment to explain how things work here and why some projects may take longer than expected. I really appreciate the patience of everyone, whether you are a customer who has used us before, someone who has been putting up with delays, or anyone trying to get a job booked. I hope this helps make things a bit clearer.

I am sharing this to be completely transparent about why this is how things are and how I try to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality. This is not a conventional garage, and I am not a conventional mechanic.

Big Restorations 🔧

These are long term projects that require a lot of skill and involve heavy fabrication, welding, mechanical work, engine rebuilds, body rebuilds, suspension overhauls, and paintwork. Some stages require subcontractors for specialist machine work. I spend three days a week on these to make sure each step is done properly and the highest standards are maintained.

Medium Jobs ⚙️

These usually take a couple of days and include things like clutch replacements or subframe work. They can be tricky to schedule because they may disrupt both smaller and larger projects if not slotted carefully.

Small Jobs 🛠️

These are minor fixes or jobs that have already been through the workshop, often following an advisory. Because I have already built a rapport with the car and it is up to a good standard, these jobs can often be completed quickly and efficiently.

Jobs are not scheduled just in the order enquiries come in. Everything is based on workflow fit, including the type of job, complexity, available space, and what other projects are in progress. I also coordinate directly with subcontractors, order parts, and source hard to find components. Some projects may be temporarily left in a state of dismantlement while a stage is completed to make sure each step can be done properly and efficiently.

All enquiries are seen and recorded. Even if your project is not immediately scheduled, this does not mean it is ignored. Timing depends on workflow fit and available capacity, which ensures quality for every job. I am always happy to communicate and answer questions, just when I can, alongside focusing on the work itself.

No job is ever quoted upfront because of the changing and bespoke nature of the work. Every project is unique, and costs are assessed as part of the workflow once the job is fully understood.

To manage all this effectively, I now work a four day week. Three days are focused on long term restorations, one day on medium and small jobs, and one day is reserved for family and parenting responsibilities. This structure helps every project move forward without interfering with others while giving me the time I need to stay focused and deliver high quality work.

Chris, our business manager, is the main point of contact for enquiries and bookings. He also manages invoicing, admin, and general client coordination. This keeps things simple, consistent, and avoids confusion. I remain responsible for all the work itself, but having a single point of contact ensures your project is clearly scheduled and managed.

If we are ever in a position to expand, this will improve lead times ⏳

Thank you again to everyone for your patience and understanding. My goal is always to deliver the highest quality results, even if timelines sometimes vary due to the nature of the work 🙏
