πŸ’₯ Another one on the rollers...

Darren's Ford Fiesta Mk2 came to us after being home built, ready for the important bit... making sure everything was safe, reliable and properly calibrated.

πŸ”§ Forged engine, Ford EFI CVH
🐌 Huge side-mounted turbo
πŸ’» OMEX 600 ECU
πŸ“ˆ Engine run in on our dyno
🎯 Custom mapped by Phoenix

We started on low boost, where it's already making just under 200 bhp with a really nice, usable power curve.

It's a cracking build with loads of potential, but as always we'd rather get the foundations right first than chase a headline number. A safe calibration and a healthy engine are worth far more than a few extra horsepower.

Top effort by Darren on the build. We look forward to seeing what it does when the boost gets turned up! πŸ‘Œ

πŸ”₯ Ford Es**rt RS Turbo

πŸ”§ CVH engine built by us

βš™οΈ Stock Mahle pistons with a mild compression reduction
πŸ’¨ Stock turbo
❄️ Larger intercooler
πŸ”Š Exhaust system
πŸ’» ME221 ECU

πŸ› οΈ We built the engine, installed the management and calibrated it on the rollers.

🎯 Jason wanted 200 bhp

πŸ“ˆ Final result:

πŸ”₯ 206 BHP

πŸ’¨ Just under 1 bar boost

Typical CVH below 3,000 rpm, then builds torque strongly between 3,250 and 4,250 rpm before carrying the power on cleanly.

πŸ”§ Built and tuned at Phoenix.

Wayne's Clio 200 - Baseline Health Check πŸ“Š

Wayne brought his Clio 200 in before starting any modifications. The aim was simple – establish a solid baseline and make sure everything was healthy before spending money on upgrades.

βœ… Full diagnostic scan
βœ… Vehicle inspection
βœ… Rolling road power and torque test
βœ… Upgrade options discussed

Results:
🏁 195 bhp
πŸ’ͺ 210 Nm

A strong, healthy starting point and exactly why we recommend a baseline power run before modifying any performance car. It gives you confidence the car is performing properly and provides a true comparison once the upgrades are complete.

We'll be looking forward to seeing this one back for the next stage. πŸ‘Œ

🏁 1990 BMW 325i
πŸ”§ M20B25
πŸ—οΈ Built and calibrated at Phoenix HQ

There is something special about building an engine properly from the ground up.

Anyone can bolt parts together and chase a dyno figure, but for us an engine build is about creating something that works as a complete package and delivers the sort of driving experience that makes you want to take the long way home.

This M20 received:

πŸ”Ή Forged pistons and rods
πŸ”Ή Carefully selected camshaft
πŸ”Ή Cylinder head improvements
πŸ”Ή Slightly increased compression ratio
πŸ”Ή ECUMASTER EMU Black management
πŸ”Ή Original inlet manifold retained to preserve the OEM character and appearance

Before calibration the engine was carefully run in on the rollers, monitored throughout, then treated to fresh oil before final mapping and optimisation.

The result?

πŸ“ˆ 225 BHP
πŸ“ˆ 295 Nm

For an M20 running a stock inlet, we're pretty pleased with that.

At Phoenix we genuinely celebrate these builds. Not because of the headline number on the graph, but because of everything that sits behind it β€” the machining, the measuring, the assembly, the countless decisions and attention to detail that turn a collection of parts into an engine that feels right.

This one delivers exactly what we wanted:

βœ… Strong mid-range torque
βœ… Excellent drivability
βœ… OEM manners
βœ… Modern ECU control
βœ… Classic BMW character

An OEM+ build in the truest sense of the term.

Factory soul. Better everywhere else.

Building engines never gets old. Seeing them fire for the first time and then watching them make clean power on the dyno is still one of the best parts of what we do.

πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Another awesome Renault Sport on the rollers at Phoenix Automotive Technologies!

πŸ›  Specification πŸ”Ή Stock F4R engine πŸ”Ή 197 cams πŸ”Ή Individual throttle bodies πŸ”Ή MΓ©gane injectors πŸ”Ή Gems GEN90 ECU

βš™οΈ Custom calibrated by us

πŸ“ˆ Final Results 🏁 207 BHP πŸ’ͺ 234 Nm

πŸ“Š More importantly than the peak numbers, we've achieved a strong, usable torque curve that will make the car far quicker and more enjoyable to drive on the road and track.

πŸ” The car had previously been road tuned, but we found several issues, including the VVC solenoid not being assigned correctly, meaning the engine was missing a significant amount of torque.

🌑️ Despite the dyno cell being a little warmer than we'd have liked, we pushed on and delivered a result we're really pleased with. πŸ‘Œ

πŸ‘ Thanks for trusting us with your Clio, Darren.

🏎️ We can't wait to hear how it performs once you get the chance to really stretch its legs!

Ignore the weird bonnet angle, we were trying to get more airflow over the exhaust due to high temps

🏁 Zak’s R53 Mini β€” feedback from the real test 🏁

We always say the dyno is only part of the story…

The real test is what happens when the car goes back out and gets used properly.

After tuning Zak’s R53 Mini, he came back with exactly the kind of feedback we love to hear πŸ‘‡

πŸ’¬ β€œReally good thanks, so much happier with low speed manoeuvring and idle was spot on! I came away with 2 class wins and a PB.

Got my quickest ever final sector and highest speed trap over the line so it’s definitely running strong.β€πŸ’¬

That’s a mega result πŸ’ͺ

βœ… Better low-speed manoeuvring
βœ… Idle spot on
βœ… 2 class wins
βœ… Personal best
βœ… Quickest ever final sector
βœ… Highest speed trap over the line
βœ… Strong performance where it actually matters

This is why proper calibration matters.

Not just chasing a headline dyno number β€” but making the car work properly from idle, through low-speed control, and all the way to the finish line πŸš€

Massive well done to Zak. Brilliant result and great to see the Mini doing the business πŸ†πŸ”₯
