Quite often, diesel vehicles are not driven to their full potential. Therefore, they are getting blocked up and incurring drivers.so much in repair costs!

This particular vehicle is a van of a trader who does very short journeys, but needs this size vehicle to store his tools. Unfortunately his diesel particulate filter was blocked!

Symptoms, he experienced the vehicle were sluggish and eventually went into limp mode, which means the car had limited power.

The diesel particulate filter is an expensive part of the exhaust system, which has been developed to keep diesel emissions clean. When this gets clogged up with excessive carbon, it causes no end of problems.

It is important that you make sure you use good fuel, you take the vehicle for a long run on a regular basis. Use good quality fuel additive.We recommend and you regularly maintain your vehicle.

In the video, we are using a DPF cleaner and the blockage of the carbon is filtering out as foam.

This clean may fix the vehicle being in restriction mode, or it may be a temporary fix depending on how blocked the diesel particulate filter is.

Let's hope it remains a permanent solution!

If you've never actually been told what an MOT checks → you're not alone. Most garages hand you a pass or fail sheet and leave it at that. 📋

Here's the actual breakdown of what gets tested:

🔍 Identity check → registration, VIN, colour, mileage. Making sure your car matches the system.

💡 Lights and signals → every single one. This is the number one MOT fail across the UK and it's almost always a £3 bulb nobody noticed had blown.

🛞 Tyres → tread depth (legal minimum 1.6mm but we'd recommend more), condition, pressure, sidewall damage.

🛑 Brakes → not just "do they work" but "do they work evenly?" Brake balance matters. Pads, discs, pipes, handbrake.

👁️ Visibility → windscreen damage, wipers, washers, mirrors. Anything that affects the driver's ability to see clearly.

🔧 Steering and suspension → wear, play, damage. The tester checks how the car handles, not just how it looks.

💨 Emissions → exhaust system, catalytic converter, emissions readings.

🚗 Structure → corrosion, damage, anything that affects the vehicle's structural integrity.
