Post Title: BMW 520 | Same Symptoms, Same Damage – Root Cause Found & Fixed ✅
Here we have another BMW 520 coming in with almost identical damage and symptoms to others we’ve seen recently.
The fault was traced down to either the injectors or the fuel rail pressure sensor – common areas of concern on these models, but this one had a twist. A leaking injector had caused a much bigger problem: diesel fuel had travelled through the wiring loom and made its way all the way into the engine control unit (ECU/DME).
When diesel gets inside the ECU, it damages the internal circuits and components, leaving the vehicle undrivable and usually requiring complex repairs or replacement parts.
What we did to bring it back to life:
✅ Replaced the faulty leaking injector – stopped the source of the fuel leak and prevented further damage.
✅ ECU/DME cloning & replacement – since the original unit was contaminated and damaged, we took a used DME unit, cloned all the original vehicle data, coding and security information from the old ECU across to it. This means all your original settings, security systems and vehicle identity remain exactly the same – no complicated programming or key coding issues.
✅ Thorough inspection and cleaning – we also checked and cleaned the wiring loom to remove any remaining diesel residue, ensuring reliable electrical connections long-term.
With the new injector fitted and the cloned DME installed and coded correctly, this BMW is now running perfectly and back on the road where it belongs.
