CAD - Tooling - Pre Preg Composites

Magnum Motorsport was pleased to welcome the formula student team from Liverpool John Moores University to our facility this week.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for detailed technical discussions around the composite manufacturing and CAD design challenges associated with their new-specification race car. It was a highly productive day, allowing us to explore how our engineering expertise and capabilities can best support the team’s development programme.

We are proud to be partnering with such a motivated and talented group of future engineers, and we look forward to assisting them as they progress through the design, build, and testing phases of the project.

Supporting emerging engineering talent is something we value greatly at Magnum, and we are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring in the months ahead.

Project Update: Talbot Sunbeam Sill Guard Protection

We’ve recently completed the design and manufacture of a bespoke set of sill guards for Shaun’s new Talbot Sunbeam rally car — all turned around from concept to finished product in just one week. A great example of how planning, precision, and efficient workshop processes can deliver quality results on tight deadlines.

It’s been a pleasure to be involved in the early stages of this exciting build, ensuring the car has the right protection ahead of its upcoming debut. Wishing Shaun the best of luck when the car hits the stages soon! 🏁

Exciting Project Update – New PIAA UK Bumper Pod Design

We’re proud to share our latest collaboration with PIAA UK, developing a new bumper pod design built around their flagship LED lamp unit.

From initial concept through to final production, this project was a full in-house effort — a perfect example of how our integrated design and manufacturing capabilities come together:

💻 Design & Development: Our CAD and 3D printing teams worked hand-in-hand to create a precise, functional prototype that perfectly complements PIAA’s advanced lighting technology.

🧰 Tooling: Once the design was validated, it was over to our laminating team to produce the tooling — ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and strength in every mold.

⚙️ Manufacturing: The final components were then produced in pre-preg carbon fibre, combining lightweight performance with premium finish quality.

It’s always rewarding to see our end-to-end process — from digital concept to physical product — come to life. Huge thanks to our talented teams across design, engineering, and composites for making it happen!

It’s always great to see a project you’ve worked on hit the track for the first time but this Nissan R390 project really hits hard in a different way, it’s been a massive undertaking from body panels,dashboard, switch panel’s and many other components to get this rare GT1 race car back on track ready for competition.

Working with .uk on a project is always a pleasure with their drive for perfection and keen eye for detail they have really excelled in the rebuild of this car.

We can’t wait to see this Nissan R390 GT1 race car back racing on track ready for the season ahead.

Who doesn’t love a before and after picture? Well here’s a Subaru Impreza wrc door that required a little tlc after the driver got a little to close to the shrubbery.

are gearing up ready for the season ahead using our carbon subframe units on their world super sport bikes. We wish them good luck for the season ahead and look forward to seeing the parts out on track this year.

Natural fibre has played a massive part in Porsches race programme over the last few years swapping many parts from carbon fibre over to the new fibre, unfortunately this door was past its best and needed a little TLC. Fortunately we where able to make new moulds and reskin this race door and get the customer back out on track.

Our latest project has been the re manufacturing of a batch of Williams FW07 front wings for historic racing. After working with the customer closely it’s great to see the wings finished and leave us to head out racing around the world.

A project we’ve been working on is the reproduction of these Aston Martin LMP1 brake ducts. From the drawing, matching and final lamination of these parts it’s been a great project to be work on and we look forward to seeing them on track soon.
