Congratulations to Ruby on passing her driving test. A well deserved driving test pass for Ruby. Here, own words, is how Ruby felt about her driving journey with us.

“I never thought I would be able to drive and the very idea of it terrified me. As an anxious person learning a bit later in life, driving did not come naturally to me, I tried to learn with multiple other instructors, who, after a few lessons told me that an automatic instructor would be the only way forward for me.
I was so lucky to find such a patient, supportive teacher in Lee. He listened carefully and helped me work through my thought processes so I could understand the reasons why I struggled with different things and find the best way to work on my weaknesses. Not only do I now know how to drive, but through the journey of learning something that felt impossible for me I have gained real confidence in myself, which is down to having a really amazing teacher.”

What a day we have had today. They do say good things happen in 3’s.

Congratulations to Natasha who passed her driving test with the perfect 0 driver fault pass.
A fantastic drive and it has been a pleasure to help Natasha with her driving journey.

Here, in Natasha words, is her review of her tuition with us.

“I began learning to drive at 17 in a manual car, and it was a terrible experience, so I gave up. Twenty years later, in September 2023, I started driving lessons again with Lee, this time in an automatic. From the start, I felt at ease with Lee; he’s an incredibly supportive instructor. When I made mistakes, we’d go over them together and discuss ways I could improve in the future. I failed my first test due to a silly mistake, and I’ll be honest, my confidence wavered now and then. But with Lee’s encouragement and friendly approach, I passed my second test today with no minors!

Learning with Lee was the best decision I could have made; it’s truly changed my life. He was understanding of my neurodiversity and genuinely interested in how he could best support my learning. I could go on, but suffice it to say, booking with Freedom Motoring will help you become a confident, competent driver in a supportive learning environment. Thank you Lee!!”

Let celebrate the successes of our learners from last weekend

Another successful manual learner

Following on from the last 2 posts, here is the last part of what happens on your driving test.

Reversing your vehicle
The examiner will ask you to do one of the following exercises:
* parallel park at the side of the road
* park in a parking bay - either by driving in and reversing out, or reversing in and driving out (the examiner will tell you which you have to do)
* pull up on the right-hand side of the road, reverse for around 2 car lengths, and rejoin the traffic.

Independent driving.
You’ll have to drive for about 20 minutes (the driving test is 40 minutes long) by following either:
* directions from a sat nav
* traffic signs
The examiner will tell you which you have to follow.
They’ll set the sat nav up for you. You cannot use your own sat nav.
If you cannot see a traffic sign (for example, because it’s covered by trees), the examiner will give you directions until you can see the next one.
The examiner won’t give you a fault for taking a wrong turning.. They’ll help you get back on the route if you do.
If you make any mistakes during your test, then you should just carry on, as It might not affect your test result. If a serious fault occurs, then this will affect the result of your test.
Your driving examiner will only stop your test if they think your driving is a danger to other road users.
Your driving examiner’s supervisor might sit in on your test to watch your examiner’s performance. If you refuse, your test can be cancelled and you’ll have to book another test and pay again. Be aware that, with the possibility that we are going to have 2 permanent examiners joining, this could be very likely.
