🚗 BMW FRM MODULE REPAIR – DEVIZES, WILTSHIRE 🚗

Another successful mobile repair completed today, this time in Devizes, Wiltshire.

This BMW had an issue with the FRM (Footwell Module). The FRM controls a number of electrical functions around the vehicle, and when it develops a fault it can cause a range of electrical problems.

Instead of replacing the module and potentially facing additional coding and programming costs, we were able to repair the fault and get the vehicle back up and running.

🚗 Ford Fiesta No Crank Diagnosis — LS67 FMM

Today’s job was a 2017 Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCi that had been suffering from battery issues and had been in and out of the garage.

The customer was unsure whether the problem was an alternator fault or another electrical issue. By the time I attended, the battery was flat, the steering was locked and the vehicle would not crank.

🔧 Diagnostics carried out:

* Released the electronic steering lock using diagnostic equipment
* Found and rectified a loose battery earth connection
* Checked engine bay fuse F6 — OK
* Checked the main power supplies and earth connections at the starter motor — OK
* Vehicle still had a complete no-crank condition
* Tested the starter motor control circuit directly
* Applied power to the starter solenoid through the circuit until the starter began operating
* Fault traced to a sticking starter motor solenoid
* Started the vehicle and tested the charging system — 14.5 volts, charging correctly
* Carried out a parasitic current draw test
* Initial draw was around 2.4 amps, but after the vehicle shut down correctly there was no abnormal standing current draw

✅ Conclusion

The charging system is operating correctly and there was no confirmed parasitic battery drain once the vehicle entered sleep mode.

The starter motor/solenoid is sticking, causing the no-crank fault.

📌 Recommendation: Starter motor replacement

Another example of why proper diagnostics are important — what initially looked like a possible battery or alternator issue turned out to be a completely different fault.

Toyota Aygo MOT fault rectification completed today! 🔧🚗

This Toyota Aygo had several electrical faults which needed sorting before its MOT:

❌ No main beam
❌ Radiator cooling fan not operating
❌ No dashboard illumination with full beam selected

We carried out a full diagnostic scan and testing procedure before locating the fault in the relay box under the bonnet, near the headlight. The relays were badly corroded and replaced.

✅ Main beam now working
✅ Radiator fan operating correctly
✅ Dashboard illumination restored
✅ All faults cleared
✅ Vehicle now MOT ready!

Another good example of why proper diagnostics and testing are important before simply replacing parts.

Ford Transit Custom BCM Cloning & Replacement

The Body Control Module (BCM) was removed from the vehicle, cloned and then refitted, helping to retain the vehicle’s original configuration and get everything working correctly again.

🚐 Another mobile auto electrical job completed in Stonehouse today!

This Ford Transit had a couple of issues causing frustration for the customer:

❌ Parking sensor fault
❌ Bluetooth would no longer connect

After carrying out a full diagnostic scan, the parking sensor fault was traced to the left rear inner parking sensor. The faulty sensor was replaced with a customer-supplied unit and the fault was then cleared successfully. ✅

The Bluetooth issue was also sorted by clearing the stored phonebook memory and pairing the customer’s phone again. 📱

Another vehicle diagnosed and repaired without unnecessary parts swapping! 🔧

Today we were working on an ECU fault, carrying out specialist testing and repair work to get the vehicle back on the road.

🚐 VW Caddy – ABS Coding & Brake Fault Diagnosis

This VW Caddy came to us after having a clutch and master cylinder replaced, but the brakes were still not fully releasing.

The ABS pump had also had its coding wiped, so we carried out a full diagnostic investigation.

🔧 What we found:

* ABS coding had been wiped
* Reprogrammed the ABS pump using VW ODIS
* Restored the original coding
* Carried out the required ABS basic settings
* Successfully calibrated the inlet valves
* Completed the ESP system function test
* The cut-out valve calibration repeatedly aborted due to a malfunction
* Final ABS fault remained: U10C5 – No or Incorrect Basic Setting / valve calibration data missing

This is a good example of why reading and clearing fault codes isn’t the same as diagnosing a fault.

The ABS can be correctly coded and communicating, but if a basic setting won’t complete, we need to establish why rather than simply throwing parts at the vehicle.
