I will always back and support my pupils whenever they have done NOTHING wrong. So today during a lesson, we was attempting reverse bay parking. The Northdock carpark in Llanelli was completely empty one side, besides one vehicle. The pupil who was nervous from the week before after being rear ended at Trostre roundabout was nervous to start with and understandably. As it turned out, the pupil ended up selecting the bay directly infront of the parked vehicle and it just happened the two women returned wanting to load their bicycles to the back of the car. He asked if he should start again and I said no, we will just take our time and make sure we give them plenty of room.....after all my vehicle is sign written all over to show its a learner vehicle. As he started reversing at a snails pace we could hear them tutting constantly, I advised the pupil to ignore this and carry on. We ended up in our bay with them having plenty of room to continue doing what they were doing with zero impact to them. One of the two women then purposely spoke loudly so we could hear stating "all the spaces in the car park and they pick this one, bloody typical". By this point I had enough, as we were parked I exited the vehicle and asked her to repeat what she had said and she did. I explained that he was a learner and it was an unexpected error when we ended up with this bay but no harm was done? Her response...."well you as the instructor you should know better not to park here".....why?! Because they returned whilst we were mid manoeuvre? So with this I just went to get back in the car and all I heard was "that's what I thought" by this point my blood was boiling. I explained that its not his fault and its other people who impact not only my pupils but learners in general with their unnecessary, unwanted and ridiculous comments that impact the pupil and their confidence. To this the other woman chipped in and said "wow you're so professional, call yourself a driving instructor" granted I replied that I was as I was looking out for my pupils best interests. REGARDLESS of how empty the carpark was I will ALWAYS support my pupil and back them when they have done absolutely NOTHING wrong. RANT OVER, drive away Karen's and leave me tutor MY pupil!
