Finally got around to adding this custom one of a kind bike I had the privilege of rebuilding from the ground up to the page. Had to be extremely delicate to ensure not to damage any chrome
Owner told me engine had full engine rebuild but would not start. Discovered the sprocket seal was used in place of the crank seal, causing the crank to be extremely stiff and having no free spin.
Furthermore the quality of the rebuild was in my opinion poor in terms of engine cleanliness, dirt and bits everywhere. Clearly a blow torch was used to get the bearings, to slot into place. Cleaned up the cases, removed the dirt and burn marks, used the oven and flash freeze bearing method, to refit bearings
Had issues with the clutch either engaging or being disengaged, discovered the cam shaft lever thread was none existent and had a bolt just barely catching it to make it stick. Replaced and worked like a dream
The kick start spring was no pre-wound, evidently why when taken apart as the spring was snapped so it had nothing to keep it under tension to spring back. Had to be replaced
Wiring was like a birds nest, was in shambles. had to be fully stripped and rebuilt, live wires were connected to the main earth on the wiring loom. wrong wires were connected to the CDI box via electrical connectors.
Bike was a nightmare to work on but worth it when the customer took it to be dyno tested. very happy with the result whilst running the 160 Polini kit
