We put the word "adequate" to a Polestar chassis engineer when talking about 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds in the new Polestar 3 Performance. He wasn't having it. 😄
And honestly, having driven it on some proper British roads, we get it. This car doesn't just have the power — it has the chassis to handle every bit of it. Into a bend, through a bend, out the other side. Planted, composed, and genuinely exciting.

From the outside, the Polestar 3 MY26 looks almost identical to the original. Same clean Scandinavian design, same impressive silhouette.
But spend five minutes with the engineers — or five minutes behind the wheel — and you realise how much has changed under the skin. More power, quicker charging, smarter tech, and a drive that's been sharpened in all the right places.

Two things stood out on our Polestar 3 MY26 drive day.
First — the way it handles. Softer suspension, beautifully tuned, composed through corners. On the right roads it genuinely feels like a rollercoaster. In the best possible way.
Second — the charging. The MY26 moves to 800V architecture, making it 25% faster to charge than the previous version. A 10 to 80% top-up takes around 22 minutes at a rapid charger. That's a motorway services coffee break, sorted.

The government wants to charge EV drivers 3p per mile from 2028. 👀

But here's the question nobody's really answered yet — how are they actually going to enforce it?

New cars don't have an MOT for the first three years. So there's no mileage check. No record. No verification.

I break down the three options being floated:
🔌 Option 1 — Direct API into your car's odometer. Simple in theory, but older EVs won't all support it. And government access to connected car data? That's a whole conversation.
📋 Option 2 — Self-reporting. Log in, submit your mileage, pay the difference. Basically a tax return for your car. Relies on total honesty at scale.
🕒 Option 3 — Keep EVs tax-free for the first three years (no MOT = no verified mileage anyway), then start measuring from the first MOT onwards.

Personally? Option 3 feels like the only one that's actually fair, practical, and keeps EV adoption moving in the right direction.

Throwing it back to one of our favourite nights of 2026. 🏆

On 30 April we headed to Manchester for the Sunday Express Construction and Property Awards — the UK's largest event of its kind — hosted by the brilliant Kate Garraway MBE. We were there as part of the Sevadis team, conducting the winners' interviews on the night.

And what a night it was.
Talking to the winners, you could feel just how much it meant. These are businesses and teams doing incredible work — pushing sustainability, innovation, and quality in an industry that rarely gets the recognition it deserves.
One winner summed it up perfectly: "It feels absolutely amazing to be recognised for the work that we do."

Sevadis were there as sponsors because the future of EV charging is inseparable from the future of construction. New homes, new developments, new commercial spaces — getting EV infrastructure right from the ground up is exactly what Sevadis do. And the people making those decisions? They were all in that room.

The new Nissan Micra is here… and it looks ready for battle.

Set to One Battle After Another, this one felt like the perfect match — sharp looks, big attitude, and a proper sense that the Micra is coming back with something to prove.

• One of the most interesting small EVs we’ve seen in a while

Safe to say the Micra is not micro on confidence.

If you’re getting an electric car, this is one app well worth downloading straight away.

Zapmap makes EV charging much easier by showing you where chargers are, whether they’re available, how powerful they are and how much they cost. On some networks, you can even pay in the app too.

It’s one of those simple tools that takes a lot of the guesswork out of public charging, especially if you’re new to EVs.
