This particular example is a coveted C16 UK-market specification model, estimated to be one of fewer than 70 UK right hand drive manual 996 Turbos finished in Midnight Blue, making this car stand out beautifully against the sea of standard Silver and Black examples.
This example benefits from an exceptionally comprehensive history, with servicing carried out throughout its life by Porsche Main Dealers and respected Porsche specialists. The service book is stamped throughout and is accompanied by a substantial collection of supporting invoices, all neatly organised within a comprehensive chronological history file.
The car is also supplied with its original Porsche leather document wallet, original manuals, service books, factory toolkit, spare wheel, two original keys with both fobs, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and original sales invoice with factory options list. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms a build date of 25th March 2003.
What particularly sets this example apart is the considerable amount of recent expenditure undertaken to preserve and improve the car mechanically and structurally. At approximately 72,156 miles, over £20,000 was invested in an extensive programme of mechanical, suspension, braking, cooling system and underbody refurbishment.
The suspension received significant attention, including replacement front shock absorbers, front springs and top mounts, together with rear springs and rear shock absorbers. The front and rear anti-roll bars were removed, inspected and refurbished, with brand-new anti-roll bar bushes fitted. The car was subsequently subjected to a full alignment.
The braking system has also received considerable attention, with the front and rear calipers and discs removed for thorough cleaning and inspection, the calipers refurbished and new brake pads fitted. The wheels have also been recently refurbished.
The cooling system was comprehensively attended to during the refurbishment. The radiators were removed and inspected, thoroughly cleaned and the surrounding areas addressed, while the charge-air coolers were removed, dismantled and cleaned, with their frames refurbished. The coolant pipes have also been replaced and the system is showing no signs of leaks.
The air-conditioning system has similarly been brought up to standard, with the relevant AC lines replaced and the system subsequently regassed. The front bumper was removed to allow the radiator and cooling areas to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
The underside of the vehicle received particularly comprehensive attention. Undertrays and inner wheel-arch liners were removed to allow the chassis, inner wings and surrounding areas to be properly inspected, cleaned and treated. The rear bumper and support beam were removed, while the inner sill areas were accessed to allow thorough inspection and treatment.
Corrosion was removed where identified and the underside was comprehensively cleaned and protected, with new fixings and clips used throughout reassembly and relevant components cleaned and greased. The quality and extent of this work is immediately apparent underneath the vehicle, and the underside is exceptionally clean for a 23-year-old 996 Turbo.
Mechanically, the car drives exceptionally well. The legendary 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six pulls extremely strongly, with excellent turbo spool and no unwanted engine noises. The engine starts cleanly, idles smoothly and there are no warning lights or known faults.
The 6-speed manual gearbox is particularly impressive, with an exceptionally crisp and precise shift and no crunching or unwanted noises. The clutch is in excellent condition with smooth engagement and no signs of slip. The steering remains direct and precise, while the extensive suspension refurbishment gives the car a tight and composed feel on the road. There are no unwanted knocks, bangs or rattles and the braking performance is excellent.
The car is fitted with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres all round, retaining plenty of tread, with the wheels having recently been professionally refurbished.

The interior is in fantastic condition for the age and mileage, with very little wear to the Graphite leather seats and bolsters. The dashboard, headlining, carpets and interior trim are all exceptionally well preserved, while all switchgear and electrical equipment operates exactly as intended.
The air conditioning performs correctly, the electric windows operate as they should, the electric memory and heated seats function correctly, and both the sunroof and rear spoiler operate exactly as intended. The doors open and close correctly and the interior retains a highly original and well-cared-for appearance.
Externally, the car presents beautifully in Midnight Blue Metallic, a particularly elegant colour on the wide-bodied 996 Turbo. The paintwork retains excellent depth and gloss and presents extremely well overall having benefited from a recent paint enhancement.
There are some minor age-related cosmetic imperfections consistent with a 23-year-old performance car, including a number of stone chips to the front bumper, some minor cosmetic rash to the lower section of the rear bumper and limited lacquer peel around the rear window areas. These points aside, the overall exterior presentation is excellent, with the original windows retained and the exterior trims in very good condition. The car has six former registered keepers and is supplied with its V5, is HPI clear and accident free. Now showing 73,700 miles, this example represents a particularly strong combination of desirable specification, extensive history, recent mechanical expenditure and excellent driving condition.
