Congratulations 🥳🍾🥂🎉 to Annalise Cadman-Carpenter who passed her driving test on Monday 05 October 2026 with only 2 driving faults.

I think I am going to add a paragraph to my terms and conditions that students can’t book their test before 0900 hrs! We were up before the birds this morning!

BUT, it was all worth it! A terrific drive, great feedback from the examiner and back home in time for breakfast!

🚨 LEARNER DRIVERS – BE CAREFUL WHO YOU PAY FOR DRIVING LESSONS! 🚨
With the current shortage of driving instructors, finding a driving instructor can be extremely difficult. Unfortunately, this has also created an opportunity for unqualified people to take advantage of learners who are simply desperate to get lessons.

There are people offering driving lessons who are not legally entitled to charge for driving instruction. It is important to understand that just because someone has a driving school car, has adverts on Facebook, or calls themselves a “driving instructor”, it does NOT necessarily mean they are qualified.

So, how can you protect yourself?
✅ Check the instructor's badge in the windscreen.
If you are paying for driving lessons in Great Britain, your instructor must either be:
🟢 A fully qualified ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) – they should display a GREEN badge in the front windscreen.
🩷 A trainee driving instructor – they should have a valid PINK trainee licence displayed in the windscreen.
There should be no excuses for not displaying the appropriate badge. DVSA guidance states that instructors must display their ADI registration certificate or trainee licence while giving paid instruction.

No badge? 🚩 WALK AWAY.
Also be wary of anyone who tells you that their badge is “being processed”, that they have “passed their tests but are waiting for registration”, or that they are “training to become an instructor”. If they are charging you for lessons, there are specific legal requirements they must meet.

Before booking, ask the instructor directly:
👉 “Are you a fully qualified ADI or a trainee instructor?”
👉 “Can I see your DVSA badge?”
👉 “Is the badge displayed in your car?”

Remember, being able to drive does not make someone a driving instructor. Teaching someone to drive safely requires the appropriate qualification, registration and professional standards.

Your driving lessons are an investment in your safety, so don't let the shortage of instructors force you into choosing someone who isn't properly qualified.
Take a few minutes to check – it could save you a lot of money, time and frustration! 🚗💨

Congratulations 🎉🍾🥂🥳 to Isabelle Kent who passed her driving test in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday 01 September 2026 at the first attempt with only 2 driving faults!

I feel at this point that I should mention aja.driving.school (Ashley Allen). Issy started her driving journey with Ashley who taught her the basic procedures and I then took over to add the spit and polish! Between the two of us, I think we did a pretty good job!

⭐️🚗 FIRST TIME PASS 🚙⭐️

Congratulations to Ethan Bonilla who passed his driving test in Cambridge on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at the first attempt with only 5 driving faults.

We had a lesson the day before Ethan’s test and it didn’t go well! If it had been his actual test, he would have failed at least 3 times! I think he went home and gave himself a pep talk and a kick up the a*^e, because he was so much better today when it came to the real thing!

Shy is not a word I would use to describe this student but she definitely was NOT having her photo taken!

Congratulations 🎉🍾🥂🥳 to Elsie Frostick who passed her driving test on Monday 20 July 2026 in Cambridge with only 3 driving faults.

I met Elsie and her family about 7 years ago and I was touched when her Mum contacted me and told me that Elsie would like to have me as her driving instructor!

Elsie has been a great student and we have had a blast! Her sense of humour and non stop talking have made every lesson so enjoyable. There was only one lesson where I felt sad…..poor squirrel! 🐿️

Sitting in the back of the car whilst your student is taking their test is never easy! You have to watch as things start to unfold in front of you and when your student does a reverse bay park that ends up in a bush, you start to fear the worst!

Ella went into her driving test full of confidence. I don’t think failing was an option! We had a couple of incidents whilst she was learning to drive that made me smile. Ask her about the wall on her driveway next time you see her!

⭐️🚗 ‘By George, He’s Done It!’ 🚙⭐️

Congratulations 🥳🍾🥂🎉 to George Lee who passed his driving test in Bury St Edmunds on Monday 22 June 2026 with only 4 driving faults.

The majority of the hard work in teaching George to drive had already been done by his Mum, Sophie Lee. George was another prime example of how important it is to get out and gain experience, if you are able to do so, with a family member or friend.

I only had to get rid of a couple of bad habits and teach George the test manoeuvres. There was also the small matter of some non-existent observations! We got there in the end!
