I often post here with pass pictures and it’s all sunshines and rainbows. Sadly today it’s a little different.

A learner and I were this morning NPCs in the game of a young man who was driving like he had extra lives. Thankfully apart from a cut finger for me, everyone else was physically unharmed. My car however, not so fortunate.

As driving instructors it’s our aim to rid the roads of these people and help educate them into making better choices.

The young man in question was very humble and was actually surprised that I wasn’t mad at him for his silly actions. Having only had his license 3 months and this being his second crash, I’m not sure anybody getting mad will help!!

I am very much hoping this will be the wake up call he needs and will happily help him with some further lessons and teach him the way I teach my own learners.

I just wanted to say thank you to my learners who have messaged me and for their understanding with the situation and subsequent missed lessons.

Also thank you to Adele and her learner who came to rescue my poor learner who was shook up but physically unharmed.

This driving lark is not a game, guys. Please be sensible and listen to your instructor. We only want you to be safe sensible drivers.

Driving dangerously, overtaking when there’s no space, using your phone etc can all end up with a car full of people attending their own funerals.

Let’s all try and stay alive and make it a Merry Christmas.

Wahoooo! Superb job from Lily today to pass in York.

Heaven knows what would’ve happened if she hadn’t have passed as she would’ve been sent to a grumpy instructor instead!

I never doubted her ability, obvs. Lily always had it under control and was destined to walk the test!

Parallel parking aside, this young lady was an absolute natural from the start. We won’t mention the parallel parking again though.

Parallel parking is obviously a piece of cake and Lily defo doesn’t stress about it in any way.

Even when she has to parallel park… ok I’ll stop now! 🤣🤣

During her lessons, Lily has usually been the subject of lots of my rubbish jokes but she’s been a great sport and very much gave as good as she got.

Bring on the Drive-thrus, adventures and ultimate freedom that you’ve worked very hard to achieve. Drive safe, mate. It’s been an absolute joy to help you along the way.

Massive congratulations to Alexandra who passed last week in York.

Having learned her skills first, she came to Mihai to finalise everything to breeze through the test.

Excellent work, guys. Drive safe.

Quote of the day from a learner…

Learner: I think you should start a podcast…

Ol: Why would I do that?

Learner: People love listening to funny podcasts

Ol: Ah, are you accepting that I’m funny finally?

Learner: Erm… actually I don’t think you should 🤣

Friday the 13th, who? No bad luck for Sophie here who’s made the test look easy in York this morning and being the SIXTH pass of the week!!

Having known Sophie since she was knee-high to a grasshopper when the poor blighter was my next-door neighbour, I was dreading, sorry very much looking forward to teaching her! 🤣

The truth is I haven’t got any embarrassing stories and dramatic tales of lessons because Soph has been an absolute delight. Hence the old embarrassing picture instead 🤣🤣.

We’ve obviously laughed and had singalongs during lessons as you’d expect, and she finally today accepted that I’d said something funny! Even if it was only the once 🤣.

On a few occasions we’ve had lessons with a trainee instructor observing and they’ve all said what an excellent learner she was. Soph takes on everything you say and strives to make it perfect.

You’ve made us very proud today, mate. To see you grow from that cheeky little girl next door into the strong, independent young lady you are today has been fantastic, and I’m glad to have been able to play a small part in that.

Drive safe, Sophie. It’s been emotional.

Kacey is still in shock as test pass 5 of the week, she smashed her test this morning in York first time of asking, with a mere 1df 😵‍💫 obvz could’ve done better 🤣. The examiner said it was a beautiful drive and of course she was going to pass.

Missing out on a clean sheet by getting marginally close following another car, she couldn’t believe the pass let alone only getting one fault, having to keep internally reminding herself if it’s a fail it didn’t matter!
FAIL?!? With how you drive I think not mrs.

My time with miss Rollinson was a breeze making driving from day one look easy, learning new things like a walk in the park (apart from having to remind her to keep hold of the wheel) when she “thought” she’d done wrong.

Holding down 2 jobs this hard working, kind hearted and thoughtful young lady is a credit to her parents. Always thinking of others and being too polite for her own good at times, I know this young lady will go far.

Being a confident driver from the offset and making some really great choices on the road.
I don’t usually enjoy been a backseat passenger on test but this was an enjoyable test to be a part of, Thankyou.

Stay safe kacey, don’t change your ways for others and don’t forget to 👋🏿.

Jenny, Jenny, Jenny! Where to start!
We will start with an amazing pass from her today in York with a comment from the examiner of a lovely drive.

What a journey we’ve been through together, sharing some great laughs at mishaps on Google, to some tears at the thought of giving up! ( not because she couldn’t drive but because of a problem with the dvla.

We got there in the end! trully Jenny should’ve passed in may this year but due to her anxiety taking over during a reverse bay park ( which the examiner told her after she was doing well untill she panicked), then needing to renew her license and a long trip to Peru for a family wedding actually giving herself the best Christmas gift with a pass was the better option ( plus I got fed for a few months longer 🤣🤣)

Being fed with wonderful food was only the start of our journey, Jenny came to me after having an awful experience with a previous instructor and having low self belief that she would ever drive. We’ve done some extensive lessons around her anxiety I’ve had faith in this incredible woman from day one my struggle was getting her to believe.

From tears at the start to laughter for most of the end we’ve shared disbelief in some outrages choices made by other drivers/pedestrians.

Jenny had one goal I want to drive to gain my independence and not need to rely on others! Well guess what you incredible woman you’ve done it you set your mind to it with your theory and your test and today you’ve achieved your goal and dream. It’s been an absolute pleasure (most of the time 🤣🤣)

Drive safe from one grandma to another 😵‍💫 caution is fine just don’t go backwards 😃 stay safe mrs and enjoy your new found freedom to shop, walk with the dog and watch football with your son where ever you want 🚗🚗

Pass 3 of the day…

This is Tom who passed at the first attempt this afternoon in Pontefract!

With 1 test cancelled due to snow, another cancelled due to examiner sickness, Tom finally made it to the test at the third attempt! As if test day nerves aren’t bad enough when you only have to go through it once!!

Having taught Tom’s brother I had high expectations and he didn’t disappoint. Lessons were always productive and Tom gives 100% in everything he does.

Being a highly intelligent young man, Tom breaks the stereotype that “book smart” people aren’t very practical. He is very much both of these things.

Conversations in lessons led me to buy a 3D printer which Tom is very much an expert in. Myself on the other hand, useless! I’ll be coming back to you for some lessons 🤣🤣.

I have absolutely no doubt that Tom will achieve everything he wants in life. He is a credit to his parents.

Drive safe, mate.

Annnnddd the 2nd pass of the day….

Meet Daisy. She passed today in her own car due to my ludicrous scheduling of tests, albeit not wholly my fault!

Making the test look easy, as I would expect obvs, Daisy breezed to her license in York.

Occasionally very demure, very mindful and occasionally the baddest b # # in the building, none of these are my words btw, Daisy was an absolute pleasure to teach.

With her unique system for remembering mirror checks which I won’t repeat in public, Daisy’s language would make a sailor blush. If it works, then it works. There were no faults for mirrors or observations 🤣🤣.

We’ve quizzed hard, questioned Mums driving ability, and even managed to do some actual driving during lessons. Daisy is a much better driver than her Mum of course. Although tbf that doesn’t take much!!

Drive safe, mate. It’s been emotional!
