If your Mercedes hybrid or electric vehicle will not start after an accident, battery discharge or undervoltage event, the high-voltage or 48V battery management system may be locked by the BMS.

Common symptoms

The supported procedure can identify the battery automatically, show individual cell-voltage information, read the battery lock status/event information and perform an unlock/reset on compatible systems. Depending on the battery, work can be carried out through the vehicle or directly on the battery/BMS on the bench.
Do not replace an expensive hybrid or EV battery before checking whether the battery itself is simply electronically locked.
