We just had to share this wonderful vintage photo sent in by a pedal car fan: "Hello there, I see Dom Chinea has been taking a look at the Austin Pedal Cars. Below is a picture in mine that my parents bought me when I was about 5 years old, I am 73 now. I thought you might like to see it."

Did you spy our special guest on the stand at 2026? His name is Rusty... Agent Rusty. And he's got a licence to pedal.

This 007-inspired customised J40, created by Gary Weston BSc(hons) MIET C.Eng, has a lot of hidden secrets and a live and let pedal attitude. Concealed beneath the bonnet is a remote-controlled cannon barrel (which projects 6 rounds per second) and high-pressure micro-nozzles are seamlessly integrated into the J40's flanks to sq**rt water jets at enemy agents up to 10 metres away.

When the enemy agents close in and there's no time to pedal, the rear bubble cannon makes for a quick distraction during a getaway. Rusty also deploys sweets and chocolates from his boot - with the odd gr***de thrown in!

Always look on the bright side of life 🔆

We have a range of British-made parts and spares to keep your Austin J40 pedal car's headlamps in good nick, including:

- A beautifully chromed re-manufactured headlamp rim
- O-ring to fit between the headlamp lens and the outer rim to form a seal and hold everything in place
- Headlamp reflector plated in bright nickel
- Headlamp mounting rubber that fits between the headlamp backshell and the body
- Pair of injection moulded perspex headlamp lenses to replace the original glass ones, available in either clear or yellow tint for that European look
- Headlamp back shell supplied in bare steel, with the wiring hole pre-drilled and headlamp fitting lip
- Original bulb holder MES
- And of course, a fully assembled pair of headlamps, available with either clear or yellow tinted lenses.

How lovely is this real vintage J40 merry-go-round 🎪 Who else spotted this at Goodwood Revival? We're absolutely fascinated with the history of J40s, and would love to try and find out the journey of these pedal cars before they became part of the Austin Touring Cars ride - whether they had previous owners, or came straight from the production line at Bargoed!

Join us for race two of the Settrington Cup at 2026! Once again, our heritage collection of J40s led the convoy out onto the iconic Goodwood track, and our junior racers prepared themselves for the Le Mans-style start.

Under brilliant blue skies, over 60 J40s pedalled to the max while friends and family cheered them on. Overall winner Joshua Pearce was finally crowned- and the Settrington Cup is over for another year. What a race! 👏 Until next time...

In 1955, Ted French won the very first Austin Pedal Cars Junior Grand Prix pedal car race held at Silverstone. His prize for victory was his very own Austin J40 pedal car. Ted enjoyed his pedal car for years, his father working on it to ensure he could pedal for as long as possible. Incredibly the car still wore Ted's race number 70 years later and carried the battle scars from a well used and much loved life, just how we like them!

Prior to last year's Goodwood Revival, we had the absolute pleasure in welcoming Ted French to Austin Pedal Cars HQ here in Salisbury. We fully prepared the car to make it ready to race in the 2025 Settrington Cup, whilst retaining its patinated bodywork to honour its place in classic pedal car history.

Here is Ted with his beloved pedal car in both 1955 and 2025 - featuring George, who won the chance to race Ted's car in the Settrington Cup.

A day on the track, a lifetime of memories for little pedallers and their pit crew.

Beautifully captured by Kirsty Jayne Russell the Settrington Cup is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year. Remaining one of the most anticipated races of the entire Goodwood weekend, the Settrington Cup celebrates the charm and heritage of the J40, while introducing the love of racing to the next generation.

Follow along with us for the Saturday race at the Settrington Cup! Our custom police car and pickup truck J40 took the journey from the Austin Pedal Cars stand to the Goodwood track and led the convoy out onto the circuit.

Each of the pedallers gave it their all but there was one clear winner! Well done to all the pedallers who took part in Saturday's Round One race 👏

Shoutout to our favourite vintage hostesses who helped a few J40s cross the finish line!
