With strong winds and heavy rain forecast across Cornwall, heading up the estuary was just about the only sensible option today, it wasn’t exactly screaming bream conditions…

I got there for low water and baited the swim with ragworm on a simple running ledger rig and after four hours of a lot of rain the reel went screaming and I was on a nice Guilthead bream.

Possibly the best estuary fish to grace our shores… if you have the patience 😂

Let’s go fishing on the remote and rugged coastline of Cornwall!

This has to be one of the most amazing places to explore by boat and even when the fish aren’t biting the scenery never disappoints.

I’m joined by the creator of RIBS and SIBS in this video, we talk through some of the factors that set the SurfCat apart from other SIBs so if you’re interested in these boats watch this video to the end.

It’s certainly a long overdue episode so I hope that you enjoy it 🤘

This is why you can’t beat sea fishing in Cornwall!

Putting one of the lads aboard Marlin onto a prime lure caught cod over the reefs in the morning and then shooting off for an after work shore session and catching one of the best looking and tasting fish in our seas, the couches bream.

All this in a balmy 28 degrees 😎

I’m lucky enough to own a few inflatable boats so I wanted to set myself a little challenge to catch a fish on each of them in one trip!

I think this video shows a nice comparison between the capabilities of different SIBs and how the sea conditions can affect them… this might be the first video I’ve ever made of me falling in 😅

This week I’ve been using a little “pack raft” to access some new shore marks and put a lure exactly where it needs to be.

The run of good fish continues and I can confidently tell you that this has been the best start to a bass season so far. Plenty of fish in the 60-70cm range so are there more big bass around this year or have I got better at catching them? Either way I’m not complaining.

I’ve just finished a day of Tuna training in Looe

This has been a really interesting experience for me, running through different scenarios in the classroom and then getting hands on with the kit out on the water, I was even lucky enough to get into a PB bucket. Speaking to each of the lads about our different backgrounds and sharing the excitement of what’s to come in our seas was a highlight.

Big thanks to Capt. Dan of Sowena for running such a brilliant day. Soggy smiles all around!

Catch and release is a big part of my bass fishing, when I can pick a couple of good fish for the table and let the big breeders go I know it’s been a good session!

A weekend of big tides and stormy weather provided the perfect conditions for bass fishing from the shore with lures.

Usually at this time of year the bass are fixated on small sandeel so lure choice is a very important factor. I like to wade into position and use the current to wash the lure into areas of structure where the bass will naturally wait for prey to drift by. More often than not the take will come on the pause when the line is slack and the lure is moving with just the tide.

Catching these fish from shore in the dark is an exhilarating experience and they taste all the better for it!

I’ll admit it’s been too long since I’ve made a SIB fishing video but I think this one was worth the wait!

A real adventure for me cruising along the coast of South Devon and making camp along a tiny creek with incredible scenery. This was one of those trips that made me appreciate the characteristics of an inflatable boat and the ability to pull up just about anywhere.

I hope you enjoy this adventure as much as I did, many more of these to come!

In this epic coastal adventure, I explore the rugged shoreline of South Devon in my inflatable boat, fishing as I travel in search of dinner for an overnight...
