This smile!!

This was my reaction when my client told me she enjoyed her most recent car journey's!!

Actually ENJOYED them!!

After years of being terrified to travel any further than a few minutes down the road.

She has now travelled miles on day trips with her family, something she had not done in years...

I feel so proud of the work she has done and the work we have done together to help support her to overcome her fears so that she can grow in confidence behind the wheel and finally be free.

Aaaand RELAX......

The mind and the body are inter-connected. This means that where the mind goes, the body follows.

A great thing to practice is making space for your mind to STOP.

Take a seat, or lay down and allow your mind to wander at will.

When you do this you will notice that your body has no choice but to go with you and you will start to feel your muscles relax.

They will relax even more if you invite them to....for example.....close your eyes and say in your head, my arms are feeling relaxed...my legs are feeling relaxed....and work your way up/down the body inviting each part to relax.

Do this exercise for 5 minutes and then come and tell me how it felt. I would love to know 😊

What is an Affirmation?

An affirmation is a positive statement that you repeat to yourself to overcome negative thinking.

I share these a lot with my clients because they are so powerful in helping to create shifts in thinking from highly negative and critical to more positive and supportive.

From a neuroscientific point of view, what you think, visualise, and say to yourself can literally change your body, brain, and life. Many studies have proven this time and again.

The main benefits of using affirmations are:

πŸ’œ They can change the way you behave. Your subconscious doesn't know the difference between whats real and what is imagined. So over time your behaviour will begin to change as a result.

πŸ’œ They can encourage a more positive mindset. We all have that inner critic that says things like 'you cant do that'. By using daily affirmations you can turn 'I cant' into 'I can'.

πŸ’œ They can lower your stress levels. This is because you can use your affirmation when you are in the moment, which encourages you to stop and take a breath. My favourite one to use for this is 'this too shall pass'.....especially when my littlest is throwing a tantrum!!

I encourage you to get creative! Most affirmations start with 'I' so 'I am calm and confident' is a good example. The key here is to say things that make you feel good so 'My ability to stay calm when driving' will work just as well 😍

Write them down and put them up in places where you will see them regularly throughout your day. I have mine flash up on my phone which I LOVE πŸ’œ

Easier said than done..... Right?

Sometimes I wonder how to embody positivity in my life every day when all about me the world seems to be going down the plug hole...(I'm being dramatic, I know!! But still...😊)

Some things to try:

πŸ’œ Practice gratitude. Take a moment remember what you are grateful for. 3 things a day at bedtime.

πŸ’œ Take some time to breathe. Even if it's only for 10 minutes a day. Self care should be one of the top priorities to help the inner and outer workings of your body and mind

πŸ’œ Brain dump. Daily if possible. Get all the crap that's swimming around in your head and write/speak it all out. This helps give you perspective and some space for your brain to recalibrate.

These are my tips for keeping calm and staying positive in these challenging times.

After a number of failed attempts at passing her driving test, my most recent client came to me in a spiral of negativity.

Despite this, she rebooked her test and we got to work.

A new test date was initially set for midyear, but a cancellation meant the test was now less than 7 days away!

Sometimes it's hard to know how many sessions of hypnotherapy a person will need to make the subconscious shifts required to feel calm and confident before a test.

And while I never guarantee you will pass, I can guarantee that after just one or two sessions you will FEEL different.
