Over the next week, we started taking the engine apart bit by bit to get to the valve cover gasket. Each component had its own annoyance to remove. Once we had broken it down to the injector fuel lines, we opted to remove them singularly. We removed the turbo, air cleaner, exhaust manifold, pipes, cables, and a few other bits. Removing what we could, we faced issues with two lines blocked by the turbo conversion’s non-standard exhaust manifold. If only this had been a petrol engine instead of diesel, the fuel lines wouldn't have been blocking the valve covers at all, making our task much simpler.Luckily, we got the lines free enough to replace the valve cover gasket. This involved commando crawling in the engine bay, given the height of the vehicle.Next time, we'll dive into the Parts & Other Jobs we tackled along the way.
