It’s a hot one today! 🥵

I’m out working on this Nissan Pulsar, fitting a new cambelt, tensioner and water pump, with fresh coolant.

While I’m getting on with the job, the customer can enjoy the sunshine at home without the hassle of taking the car to a garage, waiting around or sorting out lifts.

That’s the great thing about having a mobile mechanic. I come to you, get the job done and you can carry on with your day.

You enjoy the sunshine, I’ll do the sweating! 😂

One of this week’s jobs…

Went out to this Nissan X-Trail to carry out a few MOT repairs, but hit a bit of a snag when the locking wheel nut key wasn't in the car and was nowhere to be found.

No problem though! I got the locking wheel nuts off without damaging the alloy wheels, fitted a new set, then carried on with the rest of the repairs, replacing the rear anti-roll bar bushes, a track rod end and a brake light bulb.

All sorted and ready for its MOT retest 😀

Just a quick update from me...

Unfortunately, (as you can see and hear!!) my van is currently off the road, and needs a new engine. ☹️

So, I’ve bought a new van which I will be collecting very soon.

Until then, I'm still happy to help wherever I can, but I’m only booking smaller jobs or jobs that I can carry out from home in North Hykeham.

Thanks for bearing with me while I get sorted. I'll let everyone know as soon as the new van arrives and I'm fully back on the road.

**Caught just in time!**

This Ford Focus had a deteriorated wet belt, and it wasn’t far off causing some serious damage.

In the video, you can see bits of the belt starting to break up and block the oil pickup in the sump. That restricts the oil flow, which the engine relies on to stay lubricated.

Once that happens, things can go downhill quickly, leading to:

• Turbo failure
• Engine seizure
• Vacuum pump failure

If the vacuum pump fails, you can also lose brake servo assistance, meaning the brake pedal goes hard and the car becomes much harder to stop.

This is why it’s so important to catch these early.

If you’ve got a Focus (or any vehicle with a wet belt) and you’re not sure when it’s due to be replaced, it’s worth getting it checked.

Out near Newark today, fitting two new lower suspension arms to get this Fiat 500 ready and roadworthy for its MOT.
