We've had quite a few customers recently tell us they've been told that a ceramic coating will improve their car's MPG.
So, is it true?
Technically... yes. A ceramic coating creates an incredibly smooth, slick surface that can slightly reduce friction as air flows over the vehicle. However, in the real world, the effect is so tiny that you're extremely unlikely to ever notice it or see any measurable difference in fuel economy.
That's why you'll never see us advertising ceramic coatings as a way to save fuel. We'd rather be honest with our customers than make claims that sound impressive but have little real-world benefit.
What ceramic coatings do offer is where they really shine:
β Easier cleaning with less dirt sticking to the paint.
β Outstanding gloss and depth of shine.
β Long-lasting protection against UV rays, bird droppings, road grime and the elements.
β Water beading and sheeting that helps keep your car looking cleaner for longer.
Could there be a microscopic aerodynamic benefit? Perhaps. Is it enough to buy a ceramic coating purely to improve MPG? No.
At Street Shine, we'd rather under-promise and over-deliver than oversell our services. That's why our customers trust us.
If you're looking for long-lasting protection and a finish that's easier to maintain, we'd be happy to help.
