A customer recently asked why we don’t have dealer-level software for Land Rover. It’s a fair question. Land Rover makes up just 1.1% of the vehicles on our database, and this chart shows how many different makes we look after.

Each manufacturer can require its own software, subscriptions and specialist tools. For an independent garage, buying everything for every make simply isn’t practical. We invest in equipment that helps us look after the widest range of customers, and we’ll be honest when a particular job needs a specialist.

🛞 TPMS LIGHT ON? 🛞

Got the tyre pressure warning light showing on your dashboard even though your tyre pressures are correct?

It may not be the tyre — it could be a faulty TPMS sensor.

🔋 Identify failed or low-battery sensors

💻 Carry out relearn/programming procedures where required

TPMS sensors contain their own internal batteries and, as vehicles get older, sensor failure is becoming increasingly common.

🔧 Ford KA – Rear Axle Corrosion 🔧

Another common issue we’re seeing on the Ford KA — severe corrosion of the rear axle.

This one had deteriorated to the point where replacement was the correct repair. As you can imagine, the rear axle is a major structural and suspension component, so corrosion here isn’t something to ignore.

✅ Old corroded axle removed
✅ Replacement axle fitted
✅ Brakes & suspension components transferred/check over
✅ Vehicle back on the road safely

It’s a good reminder that sometimes the important problems are the ones you can’t see from the driver’s seat.

Regular servicing and inspections aren’t just about changing oil and filters — getting underneath the vehicle and properly checking components can catch issues like this before they become a much bigger problem.

❄️ Always Learning at Hoggmot ❄️

We’ve had the team from NRF, one of our trusted suppliers, with us at Hoggmot for the last couple of days.

As well as filming some social media content around the workshop, they spent time with the lads carrying out hands-on air conditioning diagnostic training using an A/C system supplied by NRF.

Modern air conditioning systems are becoming increasingly complex, especially with the growth of hybrid and electric vehicles, so keeping our knowledge and diagnostic skills up to date is a big part of what we do.

A really useful couple of days of real workshop-based training, fault finding and sharing technical knowledge. 🔧❄️

And a big thank you to NRF for supplying lunch for everyone both days — always appreciated! 😂🍕

⚠️ WET-BELT WARNING! ⚠️

This is what can happen when a wet timing belt isn’t replaced at the correct interval, or the incorrect engine oil has been used.

Look closely—you can see that most of the belt’s teeth are completely missing! This can cause serious and expensive engine damage.
