Cormorant Cruising is now in the capable hands of local skipper Neil Brockman, building on a business created by Mike & Maxine Collier in 2013. Neil is a Mousehole boy born and bred with a lifetime of maritime experience. He was the coxswain of the Penlee Lifeboat from 1993 until 2008 serving a total of 30 ye

ars with the RNLI. He continued his maritime career working as a master all over the world in the offshore renewable energy industry. Neil has an extensive knowledge of Mount’s Bay, its rugged coastline, caves, rocks, wrecks and maritime history. He will share his first hand experience of daring rescues, lifesaving and fishing in Mount’s Bay, show some amazing photos, telling tales of smugglers and Spanish galleons, and highlight various points of interest as you steam gently up and down the coast - you definitely won’t be disappointed! You can pre-book your hour long trip via our website or by email which is advisable, or come down to the South Quay, and if we have room, you can climb onboard. Look out for our boards in the car parks where trip times are updated daily. Our trips are tide and weather dependent, however, to avoid disappointment we can arrange trips from Newlyn Harbour when the tide is low in Mousehole. ⛴️ Join retired Penlee Lifeboat Coxswain Neil Brockman, and Peter Bullock, current skipper of of the Newlyn ring netter ‘VESPA’, onboard the Cormorant for an informative tour around Newlyn Harbour.

🐟 Learn more about the fishing fleet, the different fishing techniques, and the varied catches that are landed in Newlyn.

An update on yesterday’s double shout from Newlyn. 🆘

Penlee RNLI were tasked by Falmouth Coastguard at 4:00pm on 29 August to assist persons cut off by the tide at Kynance Cove. Both lifeboats were dispatched; the all-weather Severn Class ‘Ivan Ellen’ under the command of Coxswain Amy Smith, Mechanic Andrew Wood and their crew of RNLI volunteers and the Inshore Atlantic 85 ‘Mollie and Ivor Dent’ under the command of Will Treneer and two further RNLI volunteers.

Upon arrival at Kynance Cove the inshore lifeboat was joined by the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924. The casualties were reported to have made it safely to the top of the cliff.

‘Ivan Ellen’ was re-tasked while en route upon receiving a report of another 5 persons cut off by the tide at Chapel Rock. Upon arrival they launched the Y-boat but the Coastguard Helicopter became the safest option of extraction. The helicopter winched the five persons and transferred them to Coastguard teams on shore.
