Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few months, I have been busy with, life, work and personal projects! I'm still here and still grafting away!

Here's one from a few months ago.

The client contacted me from England to ask me if I could check over his recently purchased MK1 Focus to see if he had bought a good one or not.

We sorted a date to drop the car off so I could inspect it.

The client dropped the car off and went on a walking trip to the Highlands. What I found, I wasn't really expecting to see, this car had been clearly loved and cherished from day one! To say the car was immaculate would be an insult! It was as perfect an example as you'll ever get! And in my opinion its one of the best in the country (and I've seen a fair few)

I gave my findings to the client and they instructed me to do a major service for piece of mind, so a full engine service kit was supplied and fitted along with a worn ball joint. I'm glad the client wanted a full service because during stripping it down I found the original ford timing belt was still fitted!

Once the service and repairs were completed I then gave the car over to Kieran Walker to give it his treatment inside and out which made the car shine like a new penny again! While it was there i cleaned up the headlights as they were looking a bit faded and tired.

I then picked the client up from the local train station in his freshly serviced and polished car and of course he was pleased with how well his car was looking and driving!

I then bumped into the client at a car show a few months later and the car still looked as fresh as the day it left me!

A returning client asked me to carry out a pre-mot, do any repair work that was necessary and carry out a service on his van.

The initial inspection highlighted a worn driveshaft, wheel bearing, track rod end, a pair of droplinks, a pair of balljoints, worn brakes all around, an almost non existent handbrake and some welding of the jacking points was required.

The welding work was undertook by Barclays welding fabrication restoration company ltd to his usual absolute top tier level of craftsmanship.

The nearside droplink had actually became detached at one end and one of the balljoints was a pothole away from collapsing.

I think previous owner used a XL pit bull to tighten up the oil filter cap as the edges were chewed up almost beyond the point where it could be removed without resorting to a hammer and chisel. But a set of pipe pliers came to save the day, I supplied a genuine Renault item to replace it along with a new sump plug as it had a small leak.

All repairs and services were carried out and one happy man got his van back in a usable and more importantly safe condition.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently I have been so busy the last few months its been quite difficult to keep up with social media posts.

Client reached out to me to come change over injector seals on their Mondeo 1.6tdci as they suspected one or more of the injectors were leaking as the car was running quite rough and going into limp mode when coming on boost.

I think the pictures speak for themselfs here.

Injectors removed cleaned, injector bores cleaned, new seals fitted, injectors were refitted and a new set of leak off pipes were fitted.

It ran better but would still go into limp mode when it came on boost and would show a code for an under boost situation.

A leak off test was then performed to check for an even flow match to rule out a bad injector as the 1.6tdci injectors are notorious for going wrong but all was good there, a bit more diagnosing found a vacuum line had broken off, luckily there was enough left on the port to re-seal the broken pipe.

Cleared the code and it ran perfect on the test drive.

Job done and a happy customer. 👌

I don't often share other business pages as I cant always vouch for them but theres literally no one else I trust when it comes to vehicle fabrication and welding. A genuine master of his trade!

Please note that no calls or messages will be answered during this time as you can imagine i will be super busy this weekend. I will respond to all messages when I can.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Probably one of the worst I've seen for quite a while ❌️

Client asked if I could change the rear pads as they'd only just started making a noise "a few days ago" 🤥

There was nothing left of the rear pads at all and the discs were obliterated and had been metal on metal for quite some time going by the pizza cutter style discs! I was lucky to save the caliper as it had been way over extended.

This turned a simple cheap £70 job into something else entirely.

Please don't leave your brakes grinding to the point they get into this state, not only is it dangerous to yourself and everyone else on the road, it's also going to cost you potentially quadruple the amount that a set of pads would cost to buy and replace 💷💷

Being a mechanic isn’t just a job.

It’s busted knuckles, long hours, and figuring out problems most people can’t even see.

It’s staying late to finish a job because you know someone needs their car in the morning.

It’s hearing a noise for two seconds and already knowing where to look.

People only see the repair bill…
they don’t see the years it took to learn how to fix it.

Good friend and client asked me to change a pair of bottom arms on his MK1 Focus that I done the brakes and timing belt on last year.

All was going well until I discovered a hole in the subframe so play was stopped and a new subframe was advised.

A new subframe was sourced along with badly needed new springs, shock absorbers, top mounts, and anti roll bar bushes. The full lot was then treated with multiple layers of rust protection inside and out that should last another 20+ years.

While it was all apart the inner wheel arches were stripped and gave the same rust prevention treatment to stop the dreaded tin worm that inevitably kills these cars off.

After 20+ years of messing with these old cars, I can quite confidently say I know them inside and out! I have a mammoth undertaking on one in the coming months!

Thanks again Kieran for trusting me with your pride and joy, that car is honestly a pleasure to work on!!

Friend and returning client asked me to diagnose a rattle from the exhaust of his partners Nissan Note which turned out to be a bit more than a rattle as seen in the first 3 pics!

The mid section and the rear silencer was literally crumbling as it was being removed and of course the nuts and bolts holding the system together were welded solid with corrosion so had to be cut off!

New mid section and rear silencer with all new gaskets and fitting hardware supplied and fitted 👍🔧

Another new client was given my number by an "eastern european mechanic" who had been letting the client down time and again!

A simple alternator replacement gone very wrong!

Previous "mechanic" and i use that term very loose here! Had begun to strip the car down but he had broken the clips that lock the fuel pipes to the fuel filter! 🙄 (on a 2.0tdci Kuga you need to remove the fuel filter to access the alternator) and had basically gave the client the run around for nearly 2 months!

I supplied and fitted a brand new alternator at the clients address in a short turn around, fixed the broken fuel pipe clips and got the car back up and running, made sure the charging system was operating as it should be, cleared any outstanding low voltage codes and handed the vehicle back to the client 👌a very happy chappy who will no doubt be a returning customer 🤝🔧
