So...
This is how the last engine ended up... after a few road miles and 1 test day.
Gutted was an understatement. It had taken me 12 years to get to the point of having a running engine in the car and it lasted just under 2 months.
Everything was going amazing at the Blyton test day, the car was running perfect. Then, at about 4pm, there was a loud bang and lost all power. Straight away, I knew it was something serious.
We coasted back to the car park and jacked it up to find a big dent and hole in the side of the sump.
As you can see from the photos above, a conrod snapped which destroyed the piston, valves, block & crank.
I also found a twisted bit of plastic hanging out the water pump which just goes to show the quality of the engine build... safe to say I won't be recommending him to anyone.
Over the last 18 months I've been gathering new parts and having a new engine built by Barratt Engineering, which I'm very excited to get running.
Onwards and upwards...
