I hope you have all had a good Christmas so far and received all the motoring related Christmas presents you were hoping for?
Sadly I'm due back to work but have spent boxing day lighting, cleaning and reorganising one half of my diecast car collection (the rest will be a job for another day)
Along with the usual chocolates I was gifted a nice 1:18 scale Alpine A310 by Norev and a rather interesting book that I've had my eye on since last year.

The first generation of Mégane production car first appeared towards the very end of 1995 with the first UK hatchback and Coupe arriving in the UK a few months later in 1996.
A cabriolet, four door saloon known as the Classic and the Megane Scenic MPV eventually joined the line up maximizing the sales potential of the platform.
Some markets even saw an estate car.
Renault also took the Mégane Coupe rallying with wife bodied Maxi Megane Megane built to compete both the French Rally Championship and in the F2 World Rally championship which it went on to win in 1999 before the F2 category was abandoned . On tarmac the 2.0 16v FWD Maxi coupe was as quick as the turbo charged four wheel drive cars that made headlines in group A rallying.

I'm inclined to agree.

My recent visit to the Classic Motor Show was primarily spent with the Renault Owners Club and Renault Classic Car Club where a range of cars from the rear engine Dauphine, R8S and R10 to the revolutionary R16 hatchback. The R21 Turbo was Renaults sports saloon of the late 1980's while the 30 is an incredibly rare V6 powered luxury barges from fifty years ago.
Richard kindly took the time to chat with me about his fault R18 GTS.
I managed to track down a mid engine R5 rally car, a Lotus Turbo Esprit in rare Essex specification.
Dream Italian exotica was covered by the elegantly styled Maserati Bora and beautiful Lamborghini Miura S.

Cold and dry, that's what today's weather forecast predicted.
After a chilly morning school run the intention was to get back on with working on the Megane Coupe which is now out of MOT following a series of issues I've had in recent months.
The unexpected rain says otherwise.
There have also been reports of snow less than an hour away.
This may well be another day of editing my Classic Motor Show video footage.

12/11/2025

On Sunday I spent the day helping support the Renault Owners Club/Renault Classic Car Club on stand at the NEC.
As expected I had a very limited amount of time to see the rest of the show and had no intention of filming a full video, however I did shoot some footage on the day which I am currently working through.
Here is a little taste of what's to come...

I've owned a few mk2 Renault Clio's in my youth but hadn't sat behind the wheel.of one for well over twenty years.
Mine were the smaller 1.2 litre 8 valve DIET engine and the 1.2 litre sixteen valve.
The car featured in this video is the sporty RSI which sat just below the legendary RS172 and is powered by the 110 bhp 1.6 litre sixteen valve engine that powered other larger Renault's including the facelifted Mk1 Megane and Laguna.

The Renault Sport versions of the mk2 Clio with it 2.0 16 valve engine have been hugely popular, especially in the UK market. If that wasn't enough for you R...

Hello everyone,

Tonight I will be hosting an unpresidented MOM livestream, something I've not really done much of on the channel to press so anything could happen!
As I'm not fully geared up for this sort of content it will be a fairly low tech affair (from a mobile phone) as I don't have the fancy software or required cables to set up a more professional live stream from my PC.
The purpose of tonight's live is to discuss the current status of the channel and some upcoming changes as well as answer any questions you may have so if there is anything you want to know drop a comment below or ask me in the live comments.
See you all at 9pm presuming you haven't got far better things to be doing at that time of the evening. 😅

Hello channel viewers.Welcome to the first properly (I hope) scheduled MOM livestream.I don't normally do this sort of thing so anything could happen!Tonight...

I'm still playing catch up trying to get videos edited from a few weeks ago.
The latest to be released is my coverage from the Great British Car Journey where I attended their Voiture Amour event recently.
In addition to a general overview of the event I also managed to catch up with Peter with his rare specification Renault Clio Initial Paris and Mick with a pair of interesting Simca which are anything but standard, if Simca would t sell him the spec he wanted in the UK then he will simply build his own.
A Citroen 2CB based Bijou (one of only a few hundred ever made) is a

You may recall my coverage from the Classic Car & Restoration Show back in March from the perspective of a show visitor covering the wider show.

As you know I had the pleasure of exhibiting my car on the ROC club stand but what does that involve?
From arriving at the NEC on set up day to working on my MK1 Mégane Coupe at the show and my thoughts on the whole experience of exhibiting at an event of this scale over a whole weekend are summed up in this extra video.
