⚠️ DPF DELETE NOW = A VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEM LATER? ⚠️

There’s something every diesel owner needs to be aware of.

The DVSA/MOT authorities are continuing work on Particulate Number (PN) testing for diesel MOTs. The aim is to detect vehicles with removed or damaged DPFs far more effectively than the current smoke test.

And if PN testing becomes part of the MOT, that could make a DPF delete a very expensive decision.

If your vehicle has had the DPF removed and the ECU mapped to suit it, you could potentially be looking at:

💷 Removing the DPF-delete map
💷 Fitting a replacement DPF
💷 Diagnosing and fixing whatever caused the original DPF problem
💷 Potentially a very large repair bill just to get the vehicle through its MOT

The important thing is this:

**A DPF is a self-cleaning filter.**

When the vehicle is operating correctly, it is designed to regenerate and clean itself. When a DPF keeps blocking, there is usually an underlying problem causing it - and simply deleting the DPF doesn't fix that problem. It just removes the warning light/problem from the equation… until it comes back to bite you.

Things like faulty sensors, EGR issues, boost problems, injectors, thermostats, excessive soot production, or vehicles simply not being allowed to complete regenerations can all contribute to DPF problems.

🔧 Our advice?

If you have a DPF problem, diagnose the cause and fix it properly rather than deleting the DPF.

Looking after your diesel and fixing the underlying fault can save you a fortune in the long run.

PN testing isn't necessarily here yet as part of the standard MOT — but the direction of travel is pretty clear.

That cheap DPF delete today could become a very expensive DPF replacement tomorrow.

If you're having DPF problems, get the vehicle properly diagnosed before spending money on a delete.
