C'est Finis!!!

The Tour Auto rolled into Biarritz Saturday afternoon to be greeted by huge crowds of enthusiasts at the Cite de L'Ocean.

The day comprised the final special stage and one last track event on the spectacular Pau Circuit, with the GT40 taking glory on the circuit for the first time:

1.Richard MEINS / Timothy HUXLEY Ford GT40
2.Ludovic CARON / Charles de VILLAUCOURT Shelby Cobra 289
3.Jean Pierre LAJOURNADE / Christophe BOUCHET Jaguar E Type 3.8L
4.Shaun LYNN / Kevin KIVLOCHAN Shelby Cobra 289

Overall results remained unchanged from Friday, so the top 3 looks like this:

1. 202 Jean Pierre LAJOURNADE / Christophe BOUCHET Jaguar E Type 3,8L
2. 201 Ludovic CARON / Charles de VILLAUCOURT Shelby Cobra 289 +31s
3. 203 Shaun LYNN / Kevin KIVLOCHAN Shelby Cobra 289 +1min42s

Pretty close after nearly 1200 miles down the length of France!
Congratulations to Our Lads for a strong week of competition and well done to their support crew for keeping things all together.
Next year I will have to be 'on the spot reporter' I think...

24th running of the Tour Auto

Day 3, Clermont Ferrand to Toulouse.
Very brief update for now, more detail to follow.

The 2 special stages saw some stronger performances from other competitions, BUT at the Albi Circuit, Shaun took his first Victory!

Usually, the attention of the Gendarmerie would be unwelcome, but when they give you an es**rt through every red light, it's as Cool as it gets!!!

The 24th running of the Tour Auto is under starter`s orders, with Shaun Lynn & Kevin Kivlochan defending their position as winners of last year`s event in Shaun`s Ex-Willment 1963 AC Cobra.
(If you are expecting impartial, unbiased reportage, I suggest you bin these updates, sorry, the BBC I ain`t, but I hope I can bring some of the experience to you. Hours of discomfort, sat in the same seat as the world flashes by...but enough about my efforts, let`s focus on Shaun & Kevin. )

Monday the 20th and the entrants are all assembled at the awesome Grand Palais in Paris,

A time for last minute polishing and fettling of the cars, and a chance for enthusiasts to get up-close-and-personal with the drivers and their machines.

There is no time for partying into the night though, as the teams will hit the road at 5:30am, from the Official start at Château de Courances.

Although the main start/finish points for each day are published, the exact route is only communicated to the teams the evening before each day, to prevent any advance recon and the dangers that could bring whilst the roads are still open to the public, but here is Tuesday`s itenerary from Kev:
Out of Paris to start 81Km
1st road section 138Km time allowed 2:40 to Egleny
Then first Special Stage (closed road) for 9Km
Then continue to Magny Cours , a further 154Km
Then after circuit, 114km to Vichy.
Sounds easy, when you put it like that!

I will keep the updates coming as and when possible, and hopefully with some exclusive photos from Kevin, like the attachments below.

Cheers for now,
Nik Bagshaw.
