🚐 When was the last time your fleet vehicles were properly inspected?
An MOT is a snapshot of a vehicle’s condition on the day of the test.
For fleet operators, that cannot be the end of the roadworthiness process.
Vehicles should be monitored and inspected throughout the year, with the frequency determined by factors including mileage, vehicle use, age, operating conditions and risk.
A vehicle covering thousands of miles every month may need far more frequent attention than one used occasionally.
Fleet responsibility means having a system in place to ensure:
• Drivers carry out and record appropriate daily checks
• Defects are reported immediately
• Safety-critical defects are acted upon
• Planned inspections are carried out at appropriate intervals
• Tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, lights and other safety items are monitored
• Maintenance and inspection records are retained
• Vehicles remain roadworthy every day — not just MOT day
