This Type 9 is in with us for a first gear conversion and full gearbox overhaul.

The conversion requires modification to the gearbox casing, so before the final build we need to make sure everything has the correct clearance.

🔧 Is your gearbox crunching when you select a gear?

That crunching noise is often a sign that something inside your gearbox isn’t working as it should.

Common cause is worn synchronisers (synchros). As they wear, you can start to get that familiar crunch when selecting a gear.

⚙️ 2nd gear is a common example — once stripped down, you may find worn synchros and gear dogs that look like this… or even worse!

The longer you leave a gearbox crunching, the more chance there is of further internal damage and a more expensive repair.

This Ford Transit Custom gearset has certainly seen some heat!

Unfortunately, this one came into us badly burnt due to a lack of gearbox oil. What started as gearbox noise was left too long, resulting in serious internal damage and a gearset that looks like it’s been left on the BBQ! 🔥🥩

⚠️ Don’t ignore gearbox noises.
That whining, grinding or rumbling sound could be an early warning that something isn’t right.
