🔧 Hybrid fault diagnosed & repaired ✔️

We recently had this Range Rover Evoque in with a charging fault showing on the dash.

Being an MHEV (mild hybrid), these vehicles use a 48V alternator system alongside a DC-DC converter to step down and charge the 12V battery. When something goes wrong, it’s not always a straightforward fix.

After carrying out a full diagnostic process, we were able to accurately pinpoint the fault to the DC-DC converter — a known weak point across the JLR MHEV range and often difficult to source due to back orders.

Once we secured the part, we completed the repair and got the vehicle back on the road where it belongs 🚗💨

This Cupra is one of our favourite regulars in the workshop… and not just because of the car — it normally arrives with two awesome Labradors in tow 🐾 — the owner isn’t bad either.

This is what a hot hatch should be: raw, powerful, yet refined enough to use every day. Just analogue enough to be a breath of fresh air compared to most things from the last 10 years, but still with the legs to give far newer machinery a serious run for their money.

Recently in with us to rectify a few age-related issues including perishing vacuum lines, failing boost pipe clips and a leaking oil filter housing — all sorted to ensure it’s performing exactly as it should. Especially important after we gave it a tune for a little extra poke 🚀

🎄 Merry Christmas from OWRS Automotive Ltd 🎄

As we head into the festive period, we’d like to let everyone know that we are now closed for Christmas.
That said, if you have any emergencies, please don’t hesitate to drop us a message and we’ll do our best to help where possible (within reason).

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers, past and present, for your continued support and custom throughout the year. 2025 has been a fantastic year for us, highlighted by moving into our new workshop and having the opportunity to design and build our workspace completely from scratch.

We’ve also had some incredible projects through the workshop this year – from Amaroks to R8s, and everything in between – and we’re grateful to everyone who trusted us with their pride and joy.

We’re excited to build on the success of this year and can’t wait to work with you all over the next twelve months.

🛠️ VW Golf GTD in for its annual service & fault finding 🛠️

We had this Golf GTD in with us for its routine annual service, along with a concern over sluggish starting and an engine management light.

A quick scan pointed to a glow plug fault — fortunately for the customer, it was one of the standard glow plugs, not the more expensive pressure-sensing type 😅

The service itself was very routine and uneventful, however during our full vehicle health check we uncovered that the battery capacity had dropped to below 20%, which would definitely have been contributing to the starting issues — especially now the colder weather has set in ❄️

With a new battery fitted, the offending glow plug replaced, and a thorough checkover completed, the customer is now fully set for winter and ready to go 👍

We’re big fans of the Golf GTD here. While it may not have the same noise or outright performance as the GTI, it still delivers plenty of fun, a top-notch interior, and incredible MPG on a run — making it the perfect balance if you enjoy a bit of fun but also rack up the miles. Best of both worlds! 🚗💨

This Fiesta ST180 came in to us with a serious knocking noise — and honestly, we’re amazed it even made the trip down to us all the way from Derbyshire! 👀

We know these cars inside out after running them as race cars in the ST240 Championship, so we got straight to work. 🏁

We’ve fitted a replacement engine, along with a new genuine clutch, flywheel, and a fresh timing belt & water pump to give the new engine the longevity and reliability it deserves. 🔧✨

Along the way we spotted a few minor issues, so we provided the customer with a full list of advisories to get sorted ASAP — keeping their hot hatch in top form.

And speaking of hot hatches… we absolutely love them here. The ST180 never disappoints with its punchy power delivery and fun factor every time. ❤️🔥

We’ve had a 997.2 Carrera 2S in recently for new rear discs and pads. After giving the customer the choice of genuine Porsche components, they opted for parts supplied by the original equipment manufacturers — the very same components Porsche use, just without the branding (or the price tag 👀).

This is an excellent, cost-effective way to maintain your Porsche to the exacting standards it was built to, without breaking the bank.

While the car was on the ramp, it also received a full inspection, and we provided the owner with a clear list of advisories to help keep the car performing exactly as it should in the future.

Recently had this stunning Clio 197 F1 in with a long list of work on the agenda. 🔧
We fitted a limited slip differential, a fresh clutch kit, a set of Catcams, a new cambelt, and took care of anything else we found along the way to keep it performing exactly as it should.

We’ve worked with Clio 197/200s for years, both on and off track, so we know these cars inside out. That means we were able to advise the customer on the best route to get the car to the level he wanted — reliably, efficiently, and with performance in mind.

We’ve had this Range Rover Velar in for its annual service today 🚗💨
It’s fitted with the 3.0 straight-six Ingenium engine, which has been proving itself to be noticeably more reliable than the 2.0 four-cylinder version.

That said, in our experience the 2.0 Ingenium can still be a solid and dependable engine when it’s looked after properly 🔧✨
Regular, high-quality servicing — especially frequent oil changes — goes a long way in preventing the well-known issues and massively extending engine life 🛢️💪

We had this stunning Porsche 718 Cayman S in recently for a relatively straightforward job — replacing the small hard brake pipes on the rear calipers due to corrosion.

Even though it was only in for a quick visit, we still took the time to give the whole car a once-over and noted a few areas worth keeping an eye on for the future. One of the most common issues we see on these models is the exhaust fl**ge bolts — they’re prone to rusting and can eventually cause a blow in the system if left unchecked.

🚐 T6 Camper in for MOT Remedial Works

We had this beautiful VW T6 camper in recently for some remedial work following its MOT. The owner had been bounced around several local garages — either being quoted extortionate amounts or told the job couldn’t be done at all.

We were happy to step in and get everything sorted! The customer was over the moon with both the quality of the work and how quickly it was completed — just a morning spent relaxing at a local café, and the van was ready to drive away. ☕🔧

We absolutely love seeing camper vans come through our doors, especially the T6 platform — such a versatile base with an incredible community behind it.

This week we had this F30 3 Series in for a full set of pads, discs and a service. The brakes were well overdue, but on closer inspection we uncovered a deeper issue…

While the older E90 is infamous for ABS module problems, it’s actually very common for the F30 to suffer from brake binding caused by the ABS module. This can be extremely dangerous, sometimes even leading to wheels locking up mid-corner under braking.

We sent the module to one of our trusted suppliers for a full remanufacture, getting this beauty back on the road safe and sound.

We’ve always had a soft spot for the F30 – especially when paired with the 3.0 diesel in 335d trim. Once remapped, these cars truly come alive. 🔥
