SAND BENDING WITH RAYSONS 🔥

In this video I will be sand bending an Exhaust Pipe for Vincent Motorcycle, using 48mm 304 Stainless Tubing.

Sand Bending, is a traditional method of Bending Thin walled tubing. The sand inside the pipe, prevents the it from collapsing while it is being bent, with a large Oxy/Propane torch, and lots of leverage and strength.

A few of the Norton parts made by my family 😁👍
For over 60 years, my family, my Grandad and my dad, have been making caferacer parts to fit British bikes, based all around the world.

And in this video I show a few common parts, that were made in our workshop. The main parts that we are known for making, are our Exhaust systems, and the rearsets that my Dad made in the 1980s. My Grandad also sold all the parts to build a British Caferacer through his shop, Unity Equipe.

So this bike may have many other parts fitted to it that were sold by my Grandad, and they could include, the mudguards and Brackets, the clock mount, the top and bottom yokes, the tank, the engine plates, the oil tank, and the seat.

These parts were also sold through alot of other shops in the UK, so I can not be certain whether they were sold by my Grandad or not. But I 100% know that the footrests were made by my dad, who died when I was boy, 29 years ago. ❤️ Its nice to still see his work fitted to these beautiful bikes, all these years later.

A new Hand Made Exhaust System for this 1950s 500cc Norton 'Featherbed' International 🔥

The exhaust pipe, is Sand bent from mild steel tubing, and is made in a 'Longstroke Manx' Style.

It has a Traditional baffle that is welded to the end of the Exhaust pipe, and not to the inside of yhe megaphone, this allows the owner to modify the baffle if he wants the exhaust system to be louder.

And the Megaphone is handmade to my Grandads old patterns, which were made famous by selling them through his Old Cafe Racer Shop, Unity Equipe. And these megaphones have been fitted to caferacers all over the world since the 1970s. Giving the bike a traditional Caferacer look. 😁👍

I got asked to make a loud exhaust for a 1988 Honda CBR250r, so I decided to make up a Twin exit Megaphone, and fit it to the existing 4into1 exhaust pipes. 🔥

This video shows how i fabricated a 2into1 Megaphone, in stainless stainless, from Scratch. Using traditional hand tools, and my trusty Tig welding machine. 😁👍

Honda Six style exhaust system fabricated for a homemade Six Cylinder Yamaha FZR250 🔥

Still the best thing ive ever made, and its going to be very hard to top that, unless I made a set for a proper, original Honda six.. Honda HRC ? 😉👍

29 years since our Dad, Ray, Raced his last race. 😢

He sadly lost his life while doing what he loved, racing his bikes at Olivers Mount, Scarborough.

In the last race of the Weekend, on his 500cc Gawthorpe Honda, he collided with Nick Jefferies on the approach to Farm Bends, and sadly died from the injuries he sustained..

We will never forget the love he had bikes and for racing. And its his passion for everything two wheeled that we carry with us today. With my brother Tom Hardman living and working in Morzine, the European Mecca for Downhill mountain biking..
And me who carries on running his Exhaust business in his memory, where I try to put that passion into every Exhaust system that i make.. as its bears his name, and we both still want to do him proud, all these years later. ❤️ Where we are both older than he very was 😔

"Ray's Sons".. It's not just another Exhaust Place, its a journey of two young boys that lost their dad, and didnt want to give up on the thing that he loved.

I seem remember my mum saying, that dad once said, "If anything ever happens to me, dont blame the bike, as it won't be the bikes fault, it will be mine"

Thats how much he loved them. ❤️

Brian and his Beautiful 1953 Longstroke 500cc Manx Norton, freshly fitted with a Hand Made megaphone, which has been fabricated to a Later Manx Norton design, with a Reverse Cone, the same as the Megaphone that was fitted to 1960s 350cc Bikes. 👌😍 Ready for Goodwood 🏁

Theyre not to everyone's taste, but they are exactly what Colin wanted, and we think they are going to sound awesome, when flying down the back roads of Northern ireland, to spectate at the Irish Road Races.

My first ever attempt at Welding Titanium!! 😲
Something ive wanted to try for a long time, and ive never had the opportunity.. especially with the high price to buy the Titanium in the first place, I didnt want to pay out a load of money to throw it in the bin once i'd finished practicing.

So when our old family friend and famous classic racer, said he would leave me his old pipe to practice on, i decided that before I attend the next month, where I may be able to pick up some work, sand bending Titanium pipes for customers muscle bikes. I better have a go at trying to weld it,

And this is the result of my first ever attempt.. which includes three practice beads, before i moved on to repairing the huge crack it. Not a bad job at all. 😁👍
