2014 audi a3
DPF CLEAN
THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT

Customer had dpf light on the car and was in limp mode.

Asked for a dpf clean.

However we always know there has to be a reason why the dpf was getting blocked. Its not always just short distance driving.

After doing the diagnostic check we found that the throttle body wasn't working. That would cause the dpf to not regen and block up.

So just doing the dpf clean wouldn't prevent it happening again.

We replaced the throttle body and then proceeded with the dpf clean.

We got the dpf pressure on idle from 32 down to 9mbar.

However we couldn't seem to get it out of limp mode. The ecu had recorded 50g of calculated soot even though after the clean the measured soot was 1.4g.

That false 50g of soot was preventing our diagnostic tool from telling the ecu that it had a 'new dpf'- which is what you tell it after a clean. That will automatically clear all the counters back to 0.

The ecu on the audis and vw group cars do this to prevent people just saying the car has a new dpf without doing a clean and then damage the dpf when it comes out of limp mode.

Honestly spent a few hours trying out different adaptations to try and get it to relearn the new data. (Sweating away in the heat)
Finally found a way to bypass it all.
Had to tell the ecu that the ash level was 0 (new dpf) and it automatically reset.

Its always a learning day.

Returned the car to the customer with full boost.
Clean dpf and no more fault codes.

So with a new throttle body there will be no reason for why it wont be able to do regens in the future and keep the dpf clean.

Egr cooler (with egr valve)
Timing belt and water pump

Customer enquired about getting their egr cooler replaced and also asked for a quote for timing belt and water pump.

They were happy with both prices and booked us in to do both jobs.

To make it easier for everyone we spread it over two days.

No rushing means less chance of mistakes.

2018 vw transporter
Egr module.
👉egr valve
👉egr cooler

Customer had code p040100.
Related to a blocked egr.
Upon further diagnostic it was narrowed down to a blocked egr cooler.

We replaced the egr valve and cooler as a whole unit and now the van is running fine again.

Funnily enough...
Our next job is another egr cooler. This time on a ford kuga.

Audi Q3
2013

👉Timing belt + Water pump
👉Full service
-oil change
-oil filter
-air filter

The engine layout on this vehicle is longitudinal.
So the timing belt was facing the front of the car.
Needed to put it into 'service mode'.
Meant taking the front end off.
Lot more time spent to access the timing belt.
But once off... easier to work on than a transverse engine with a cramped space to access the timing belt.

Also had a fault code coming up intermittently for oil pressure.

But looking at the porridge quality of the oil and the state of the filter and air filter. It could have been due to deteriorated oil.because after the oil change the fault code didnt come back.

Customer stated they had a service done last year... unless they had done A LOT of miles, id question the garage to see what they had done exactly. Because that looked more than a year.

Anyway. Customer happy now.
Job done.

DPF CLEAN RENAULT TRAFIC

customer enquired about a check anti pollution system on dashboard.

We did our diagnostics and one of the codes jumped out.

200292
Particle filter clogged.
Which is high soot accumulation.

We checked the exhaust pressure sensor pipe as they do get blocked up on the renault trafics and bring up dpf issues.

That was fine.

We then checked the dpf pressure and actual calculated soot weight in the dpf.

On a healthy dpf on idle we would be looking at around 6hpa pressure and no more than 6g of soot or even as low as 0.

This van however had 67hpa pressure and 59g of soot.

The dpf was seriously blocked!

We ran the dpf cleaning fluid through the dpf pressure sensor and kept the revs up at around 3k and watched the pressure come down.

At the start it was at 248hpa (very high. Should be around 70hpa at 3k revs.)

As the dpf cleaning fluid did its job. The pressure started going down and so did the soot level.

Once we got it to 10hpa on idle there was still around 13g of soot.

We then did a static regen... which took at least 45 minutes. Once that was completed the dpf pressure on idle was at 3hpa and soot level 0.

We also did a full service as the van had been trying to do and failing to complete regens which meant the diesel it was using to burn the soot was then being returned to the engine oil and diluting it. That in itself will lead to the engine blowing up.

So now with clean oil and a clean dpf our customer is issue free.

And a lovely review from him too.

Leaking injector seals replaced

Had to clean out all the 'black death' which is quite time consuming. Once aleverything was cleaned out, the copper seals were replaced so no more leaking injectors.

Vw touran 2010 clutch and flywheel

Customer enquired about getting his flywheel and clutch replaced. We were able to get him in pretty quick and while there were a few fights with the gearbox not wanting to go back in... another job complete and another happy customer.
