🚗 What does “making progress” actually mean on your driving test?

It doesn’t mean driving fast! 😄

Making progress is about driving at an appropriate speed for the road and conditions, and taking safe opportunities when they’re there.

One of the things I often see with learners is being a little too cautious — waiting when it’s clearly safe to go, or driving unnecessarily slowly.

The examiner wants to see a safe, confident driver who can get on with the job without rushing. 👍

Following some recent test passes, I currently have limited availability for weekly automatic driving lessons in Kettering.

Lessons are 2 hours, and you’ll need to live in Kettering or very close by.

A massive congratulations to Daisy on passing her driving test today in Kettering! 🥳🎊

It was a fantastic drive from start to finish, and Daisy kept her cool throughout – even enjoying a chat with the examiner along the way! 😄👏

One of the standout moments was a textbook-perfect parallel park around a parked car. 🚙✨ She was so proud of it afterwards, and quite rightly so – it was absolutely spot on! 💯

Daisy has worked hard to reach this moment, and it's been a pleasure helping her develop into a safe, confident driver. Now it's time to enjoy the freedom and independence that comes with a full driving licence! 🚘🌟

Meet the newest member of the team... our brand-new Toyota Yaris! 😍

After many miles, many tests and many successful learners in the old car, it was time for an upgrade. The good news? The new Yaris has already brought us a driving test pass, so it looks like it's settling into its new job very nicely! 🎉👏

🚗 DRIVING TEST SWAPS – IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM 12 MAY 2026 🚗

Just a little update for all learner drivers regarding driving test swaps 👇

From **12 May 2026**, instructors will no longer be allowed to swap driving tests on behalf of pupils. Any swaps will now have to be done directly between learner drivers themselves through the DVSA.

Unfortunately, while most instructors are honest, a small minority have abused the system by charging extra for booking and swapping tests 😕 so DVSA have changed the rules.

Before arranging a swap, make sure:

✅ You’re genuinely ready for the earlier test date
✅ I’m available for that date, time, and test centre
✅ Both tests are for the same type of test
✅ Both test centres meet DVSA’s location rules
❌ Weekend tests cannot be swapped with weekday tests

💡 A good tip is to use your instructor’s ADI number when checking dates on the DVSA booking system. Many of us block out dates we’re unavailable to help avoid clashes with holidays, time off, or other driving tests.

📞 Swaps can only be completed by calling DVSA directly.

Both learners will need:

• Booking reference numbers
• Driving licence details
• To be available on the phone at the same time

⚠️ Never share sensitive personal information directly with strangers online.

Many instructors (myself included) are part of driving test swap WhatsApp groups, so although I can’t physically do the swap for you anymore, I can still help point you towards possible swaps 👍

👉 We help you find a suitable match… then you take it from there with DVSA.
