🚗 DRIVING TEST SWAPS – IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM 12 MAY 2026 🚗

Just a little update for all learner drivers regarding driving test swaps 👇

From **12 May 2026**, instructors will no longer be allowed to swap driving tests on behalf of pupils. Any swaps will now have to be done directly between learner drivers themselves through the DVSA.

Unfortunately, while most instructors are honest, a small minority have abused the system by charging extra for booking and swapping tests 😕 so DVSA have changed the rules.

Before arranging a swap, make sure:

✅ You’re genuinely ready for the earlier test date
✅ I’m available for that date, time, and test centre
✅ Both tests are for the same type of test
✅ Both test centres meet DVSA’s location rules
❌ Weekend tests cannot be swapped with weekday tests

💡 A good tip is to use your instructor’s ADI number when checking dates on the DVSA booking system. Many of us block out dates we’re unavailable to help avoid clashes with holidays, time off, or other driving tests.

📞 Swaps can only be completed by calling DVSA directly.

Both learners will need:

• Booking reference numbers
• Driving licence details
• To be available on the phone at the same time

⚠️ Never share sensitive personal information directly with strangers online.

Many instructors (myself included) are part of driving test swap WhatsApp groups, so although I can’t physically do the swap for you anymore, I can still help point you towards possible swaps 👍

🎉 FIRST TIME PASS! 🎉

Huge congratulations to Veronika for passing her driving test FIRST TIME today at Kettering Driving Test Centre! 🚗💨

We had a bit of pre-test drama this morning when the car needed a new tyre at the last minute, so it was all a bit of a white-knuckle ride getting everything sorted and making it to the test centre on time… but Veronika kept her cool and absolutely smashed it! 💪

She didn’t want a photo today (a bit camera shy! 📸😅), so we’ll pop up one of our standard pass photos instead — but the achievement is all hers.

Passing first time is a fantastic result and thoroughly deserved after all the hard work she’s put in.

🎉 Huge Congratulations, Christina! 🚗💨

What an afternoon at Kettering Driving Test Centre — and what a drive from Christina! She absolutely smashed her test today, even with the wet and rainy weather making things that little bit trickier. 🌧️

She stayed calm, focused, and drove beautifully from start to finish. We’re all super proud of her achievement — a truly well-deserved pass! 🙌

In wet weather, stopping distances will be at least double that required for stopping on dry roads. This is because your tyres have less grip on the road.

In wet weather:

- You should keep well back from the vehicle in front. This will increase your ability to see and plan ahead.

- If the steering becomes unresponsive, it could mean water is affecting your vehicle's grip on the road.

- Ease off the accelerator and slow down gradually.

- The rain and spray from vehicles may make it difficult to see and be seen.

- Be aware of the dangers of spilt diesel that will make the surface very slippery.

- Take extra care around pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders.

🚗 A quick reassurance for all my current pupils — you are locked in at your existing rates, as always. No changes for you at all. 😊

Now, a little update for anyone looking to start lessons with me…

My lesson prices are now £46 per hour (£92 for my standard 2-hour sessions). Block bookings are now £430 for 10 hours, bringing it down to £43 per hour.

Even with this small increase, I’m still one of the most affordable automatic instructors in the area — and that’s intentional. Because I only offer solid 2-hour lessons, it’s already a bigger financial commitment each week compared to instructors doing shorter sessions. Some instructors locally are charging £50–£55 per hour, but because they do 1–1.5 hour lessons, the weekly outlay feels smaller.

I keep my prices as fair as I can so learners aren’t put off by big weekly costs, while still receiving high-quality Grade A instruction every single time they get in the car.

🚗💥 Huge congratulations to Aaron! 💥🚗

Aaron absolutely smashed his driving test this afternoon at Kettering! 🎉

He’s been so committed throughout his lessons, always turning up ready to learn — even though most of his lessons were in the dark! 🌙 So the daylight on test day must’ve been a bit of a shock to the system, but he handled it brilliantly.

He carried out a lovely parallel park and kept his composure all the way through. Really proud of the effort he’s put in and the safe, confident driver he’s become.

Well done, Aaron — wishing you all the best for the future and many happy miles ahead 🚘✨
