At Bert’s family’s request, we are sharing the funeral arrangements for Robert M. M. Macleod, known to many of us as Bert.

As the longest-serving member of the Caithness & Sutherland Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club, Bert held a special place in our club’s history. His years of support and enthusiasm for vintage and classic vehicles will be remembered with gratitude and affection. He will be sadly missed by his friends throughout the club.

The funeral service will take place at St Peters and St Andrews Church of Scotland, Thurso, on Monday 26th October 2026 at 12 noon, followed by burial at Strathy Cemetery.

All family and friends are respectfully invited to attend and pay their respects.

Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, may be given at the service in aid of Princes Street Surgery and the District Nurses, in recognition of the outstanding care they provided to Bert over the last few months.

Our thoughts are with Bert’s family and friends at this sad time.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Bert Macleod, our longest-serving club member, passed away peacefully today.

Bert held a special place within the Caithness & Sutherland Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club. His many years of membership and support connected him to so much of our club’s history, and we are grateful for the time he shared with us.

As a club, it is the people who make it what it is. The friendships formed and memories shared over the years stay with us, and Bert will be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His passing is a sad loss to our club.

On behalf of the committee and all our members, we send our heartfelt condolences to Alexander and all of Bert’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with you as you remember someone so dear to you.

Thank you, Bert, for being part of our club for so many years. You will be sadly missed and remembered with warmth and respect.

Members of Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club have presented £1000 to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, with further donations to good causes planned before the end of the year.
The cheque handover took place during a club meeting in Helmsdale on Sunday when members welcomed SCAA representative Michael Hanratty.

🚁 Donation to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance 🚁

Today, members of Caithness & Sutherland Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club gathered in Helmsdale to present £1,000 to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).

A huge thank you to Michael Hanratty for joining us and giving an informative presentation about the charity’s lifesaving work. It was lovely to welcome him and hear more about a service that means so much to communities across the Highlands.

This donation is possible thanks to our members, volunteers, local businesses and everyone who has supported our rallies and events throughout the season. Every bit of support helps us give something back to our communities. 👏

We also have more donations to local causes planned before Christmas, so keep an eye on our page for further updates.

🚗 Come along and see us at Westfield this Sunday! 🏍️

The Caithness & Sutherland Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club will be holding our last club meet-up of the season at Our Wee Shop, Westfield, on Sunday 27 September, from 10am onwards.

Whether you have a classic vehicle or simply enjoy seeing them, have a look around and enjoy a coffee and a chat. All makes, models and eras are welcome!

A wee look back at club history! 🚗

This photo takes us back to the John O’ Groats Rally in the 1970s, when it was held down at the harbour. It’s great to see the cars lined up there and to think of all the people who have enjoyed the rally over the years.

Our club is proud to carry on that tradition and bring vintage and classic vehicles together at John O’ Groats today.

🚗 Our Final Club Run of the 2026 Season 🚗

What a fantastic way to finish another busy and successful season for the Caithness & Sutherland Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club!

We started our final run at Thurso Old Harbour before travelling along the beautiful north coast, stopping along the way for lunch, photographs and a good catch-up. We then continued to Durness, where we enjoyed our end-of-season meal at the Smoo Cave Hotel.

Most importantly, thank you to all our members who came along and made the run so enjoyable. It was great to see everyone together, enjoying the cars, the scenery and plenty of laughs along the way.

The club has had an incredibly busy year, with fantastic rallies, club runs and meet-ups. We have also welcomed so many new members from across the Highlands. None of this would be possible without our committee, volunteers, members, local businesses and loyal supporters.

It is always sad when our final run comes to an end, but we can look back proudly on another brilliant season filled with great memories and friendships.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the club throughout 2026. Safe motoring over the winter, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next season!

A huge thank you to Hugh, Frances and all the wonderful staff at the Smoo Cave Hotel for looking after us so well during our end-of-season trip.

The food, hospitality and warm welcome were absolutely fantastic, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Everyone from the club had a brilliant time, and you helped make our final run of the 2026 season one to remember.
