Our latest Z650 build moved under its own power for the first time in decades today. The sun came out long enough to dry our private road off so I ran it up and down dialing in carb mixtures etc ( handy we have a steep hill so can load it up in the lower gears to feel for flat spots or glitches) Got it pretty good, now it just needs a proper road test to blow out the cobwebs from all those years it had laid in pieces, but that depends on the weather.
Price? Have been asked a few times. It is very nice and has superb original exhausts, even down to the correct age and model ( there is a receipt with it from 15 or so years ago, they were £650 back then!). Lovely condition chrome throughout with just that nice age to it, fresh paint etc etc. But in my opinion its not mint as there are a couple of areas that could stand some further, very minor, improvement. So £5995 rather that the 6k plus some are advertised at. G

Ouch!! When we started to prep this very nice Cb750C Honda, ready to send it "Up North" to its new owner, we found the fuel tap to be leaking, nothing unusual there. Apart from the replacement cost over 70 quid!! And then it turned up, it was the wrong size thread. Turns out Honda changed it from 1981 to the 1982 model, why god only knows? What I do know is the 82 one cost £137 ,and that was the trade price!! 😮😮

Some of you may remember a red Z650 that came to us in partial kit form? Discussion was held about what colour to do it once we started. The video of the Z650 engine that finally ran after I waited over a week for bits, was of that bikes engine. Well today not only did its UK reg arrived as it was in from Ireland originally years ago, but this hsppened as well. 😁🙏
I personally am very happy how its turned out. Especially as it was more or less just a pile of bits when it arrived. G

And staying on the theme of getting bikes running. We all know that where Norton Commando 850s with electric starts are concerned, the electric starters were more or less considered a waste of time . Well our engineer friend that is working on his British bikes in our place, Mr Bishop, when rebuilding his Norton decided to prove that wrong. Today I think he accomplished that as it sprang into life "properly" for the first time in many years, It sounds superb, I just wished British bikes liked me as much as I like them. As usual I am banned from even touching this one 😂😂🤷‍♂️

At bloody last. I started on these carbs 10 days ago. First the parcel company randomly decided, that when the carb kits got 10 miles up the road for me, they would return them to the company that sent them 125 miles away!! Apparently I phoned them and told them too....really?? Me thinks white/black/asian/tea-pot man speaks with forked tongue!!. So had to wait for them to be recieved back where they started from, before they could be turned round and sent back.Then as i mentioned yesterday, the new central t-piece between the carbs had a pin hole leak that didn't become apparent until the carbs were completely back on the bike, but the crew at Z-Power pulled out all the stops and had a replacement here less than 24 hours later. So built the carbs back up, fitted (aka wrestled ) them back onto the bike and at last, and for the first time in decades, this Z650 now runs sweetly with no further signs of incontinence. 😁

Sometimes I do think people that do not get involved in Carbs have their heads screwed on correctly. Got the first set of Z650 carbs back together finally, after my order of parts went on the missing list. (See first pic). Prior to fitting to the bike i did all the usual checks as they are a bastard to get back on, all good. Stuck some fuel down their neck to start the bike, fired it up.....drip....drip....drip, bloody leaking fuel!! Looks to be coming from the fuel feed pipe to the carbs, fits onto the t-piece between carb 2 and 3, I had sweated the pipe on so doesn't need a clip normally, but hey ho, take the carbs all off again to have a look. Half hour or so later they looked like this 🙈. ( SEE pic.2) Turned out that the t-piece itself had developed a leak ( see video attached in coments) So the whole rack had to be separated again to allow it to be replaced. Now this is shre I have to, some might think weirdly, recommend the suppliers of the faulty t-piece, which is one part of 3 that makes up the kit, Z-Power. I have dealt with Phil and his staff for years now, always helpfull and very knowledgeable, but I also knew that this kit was the last one they had in stock, so it was with some trepidation when I phoned them. No problem, no questioning me, just an apology ( bare in mind they have sold masses of these kits with no problems, its just a random manufacturing fault, so not their fault) then an offer to supply me with a genuine Kawasaki part, which itself is a lot more than their whole kit, hence why they have the kit made. Completely free of charge and in the post tonight.👍👍

I bought this very rare mag wheel equiped, last year of production, 1978 Suzuki GT185(E) that someone had started to restore. Looked fine but it soon became obvious we had to "un-restore" it !🙈 Thats actually not really fair as we didnt have to bare bones it, but it required better paintwork so we gave it to Chris Shelley paintwork to do that bit, re-routed cables, got it running correctly, etcetc and then our Womble gave it his undevided attention, and "Balla-bing" we now have what has to be one of the nicest late model Suzuki GT185s available for sale today. 😃😃 £3995
