Here's a snapshot of our 4000 acre training ground in which we can cover a comprehensive programme of Hostile Environment Vehicle Training, from vehicle dynamics, off-road skills to anti-ambush drills.

The handbrake turn is a very satisfying skill to master! On a rally stage, the handbrake turn is used most commonly on a very tight corner where traditional cornering methods aren’t possible.

Well co-ordinated steering and handbrake 'pull' inputs - with clutch pedal depressed - (*not required for every situation in FWD) breaks traction at the rear causing the car to rotate into a slide through a corner in aggressive oversteer.

Learning to judge WHEN to pull the handbrake, HOW MUCH and for HOW LONG, takes considerable practice to master, like any fine-motor skill.

There are many variables to juggle, including: corner entry speed, surface type, tyre grip levels, handbrake effectiveness, the drivers proficiency at executing the technique/weight transfer/co-ordination, drive train configuration and more.
