Lease Electric recently met with Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown , Member of Parliament for The North Cotswolds and Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, to raise concerns about the Government’s proposed 3 pence per mile EV tax from April 2028 (eVED).

While we recognise the need to replace Fuel Duty revenue Lease Electric believe a per-mile charging system risks being complex, costly to implement, and unfair to drivers at a critical stage of EV adoption.

We were joined by colleagues from the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association - BVRLA , who shared insight from their research and reinforced the importance of developing any future road pricing solution collaboratively to ensure it is fair and workable.

Lease Electric has proposed an alternative approach that could support revenue generation without introducing a new per-mile charging scheme, using the existing VED (Road Tax) framework, supported by manufacturer data, and based on EV efficiency (Miles/kWh),the EV equivalent of MPG.

Our latest press release outlines this proposal, alongside a copy of our open letter, which following Sir Geoffrey’s agreement, will now be shared with Gloucestershire MPs to provide further information on this alternative.

As the Lease Electric team begins to wrap up for the Christmas break, we’d like to wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas.

Over the last 12 months, our climate-positive leasing service has planted thousands of trees and supported Gold Standard and Verified Carbon Standard carbon reduction projects around the world.

Thanks to these initiatives, together we’ve helped avoid 3,310 tonnes of CO₂e, equivalent to one of the following

• 9,012,110 miles driven in a car
• 2,540 long-haul flights from London to San Francisco
• 9,930 m² of sea ice saved

We couldn’t have done this without you, so thank you for going electric with Lease Electric!

We were delighted to attend the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association - BVRLA Industry Champions Reception at the prestigious Speaker’s House in the House of Commons. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers across the sector, strengthen relationships and continue championing the voices of our customers, colleagues and communities.

The evening celebrated achievements across the industry, including MPs who have supported BVRLA campaigns and advocated for our sector.

Richard and Chloe also enjoyed exploring the historic venue ,from the remarkable gallery of Speaker portraits to the State Bedroom, a reminder of centuries of tradition within the Palace of Westminster.

Experiences like this reinforce our commitment as a small but passionate team to drive positive change, support the long-term future of our industry, and keep advocating for the people we work with.

This week, the Lease Electric team were delighted to host 13 teams at the prestigious Cotswold Hills Golf Course for our annual Golf Day.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for customers and prospective customers to catch up with our team, other local businesses and enjoy a day of golf.

The competition showcased some excellent golf, with Gloucester Rugby taking a well-earned victory. They posted a superb Total Net of 150, finishing 6 under par, and topping the leaderboard with an impressive 86 points. Layers Accountancy were close on their heels, carding a Total Net of 151, just 5 under par, to secure second place with 85 points after a strong all-round performance. BPE Solicitors followed in third, delivering a solid Total Net of 156, 3 under par, and earning 83 points to round out the podium.

With such tight margins at the top, every stroke counted, but Gloucester Rugby’s sharp play and consistency ultimately sealed the win.

Although the BYD Seal wasn’t claimed this year, the day was full of excellent golf, great conversations and a true sense of community among Gloucestershire businesses.

Today we're celebrating our 5 year anniversary!

In 2020, Richard founded Fleet Electric, the UK’s first Climate Positive Leasing Service. Five years on, we’ve rebranded to , hosted our first Go Electric Gloucestershire showcase, launched our very own Golf Invitational, proudly supported business and community events including the C2S Growth Consultancy Awards, the The Pied Piper Appeal’s Classic Car Show, and the Rotary Club’s Charity Gala Dinner, we've supported Gloucester Rugby and Smiths Rugby and have once again being shortlisted for the SoGlos Business Awards.

Our team has grown to four (hopefully soon to be five), but most importantly, we’ve helped Gloucestershire businesses and individuals make the switch to electric.

Together with Ecologi , we’ve planted 30,000+ trees and supported projects that have avoided 7,300 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, proving that every EV leased with makes a real difference.
